WHERE, exactly is the engine serial number located on the engine of a 1999 Suzuki TL1000R?

  • timjacktaylo Feb 22, 2009

That link is very good information, but doesn't answer my question. WHERE on the Engine is the engine serial number located? Not the VIN, Not the cc, but the engine number itself....thanks [email protected]

  • timjacktaylo Feb 22, 2009

I appreciate the response, I need to know today, not tomorrow.

  • timjacktaylo Feb 22, 2009

The site you provided gives the data on what each number represents, but does not indicate WHERE the engine number can be found ON the bike [email protected]

The 2 locations that I know about is. On the head between the cooling fins. Or by the area where you put the oil in the case.

Hi there
The location of the engine number can differ but are usually in same few places, start by looking on the top of the engine case, behind the block, between the carbies ornear the rear of the starter motor hump...

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!

    Hi again.
Sometimes they are located on a flat strip of casting right on top of
the engine (a little on the inside of crankcase). In some cases, they
are to be seen right at the bottom of the engine.
Suzuki uses generally a three-digit engine code starting
with a letter and ending with two numbers that reveal the cylinder
displacement and type of the engine.

    Regards

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

To my knowledge, almost always, Suzukis have their engine serial number on the top rear end of the crankcase. In your particular model, the bodyworks have to be removed partially.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

Model information and date of manufacture are on an attached ID plate.
Click on the following link to locate a dealer near you, call them & they can tell you where the engine id is located @ http://www.suzukicycles.com/Dealers.aspx
I'd dig further but must go to reg job now

It can be located in 2 or 3 places depending on any modifications made.

It can be on top, rear end of the crankcase. Sometimes it is located on the left header and not often on the forks.
