SOURCE: replace oil filter on a ducati st4
First, do you have the new filter? How about the oil? Pull the plug out of the side of the engine, It is a big allen head bolt, I made a wrench out of an old carpenters cat's paw, it was about 1/2 inch, ground it down a little to fit, turn it with a wrench, pull out the sieve and let the oil drain. then pull the filter, It should be hand tight, put some fresh oil on the new filter gasket, turn it in real tight by hand, real tight. Then clean out the sieve, and carefully put that back, watch out for the aluminum ring, it crushes easily. Fill it up with 3 qts of full synthetic motorcycle oil. about 5-30 weight. It should be real close to full. Hope this helps.
I have a 2002 S4.
