Can you fix a scored cylinder 2005 KTM 250 SX

The piston was put in backwards and the rings start catching the exhaust port and it scored the cylinder now @

try changing the HT leed the spark plug cap screws into this leed if its past its sell by date the plug cap dont make good contact with the carbon fibers inside the HT leed so just change it,,,

SOURCE: My 2001 KTM 250sx is stuck in gear, the shifter moves.

It sounds like the end of the shifting shaft has broke loose, it is a welded joint, If you can grab the shifter with your hand and feel that thing slip in there, up and down,that might be the problem, but splitting that case, ugh, total rebuild.Too bad you can't get to it through the clutch. a compressed air hose will do it, just make sure it is wrapped in rags to catch the piston and some brake fluid that will come out.
Dont point it towards anyone when you do it.

How deep is the score. You might be able to bore it and put an oversized piston.

How to remove cylinder head of the 2 stroke mantis tiller to remove if any carbon on piston head
if it has head bolts , the same as any engine
if it doesn't , the cylinder will unbolt at the crankcase
undo those bolts and carefully pull the cylinder off the piston
mark the location of the cylinder so that assembly puts the exhaust and inlet ports in the right places
NOTE-- 2 stroke rings are pegged in the ring groove so when assembling the cylinder back onto the piston , ensure that the ring gaps are at the small peg or you will break the rings when pushing the cylinder down over the piston

you probably seized the engine. The piston rings have most likely scored the cylinder wall. At the very least you will have to rebuild the top end. Oversize rebuild kits are available. You will have to have the cylinder bored to a larger diameter to accept the oversize piston kit.

The crankshaft is also lubricated by the oil in the fuel. There is a possibility that the crankshaft is also toast due to lack of lubrication. You will have to tear the engine down (top end) to verify the damage. you could remove the exhaust and look into the exhaust port to view the condition of the piston.

You may be able to find a used engine at a reasonable cost from the internet. Google search.

I have an older stihl 028. The saw starts and idles nice. As soon as you throttle up or put it under load, it bogs out, It also seems a little smokier, Can ya help? I cleaned the carb and jets and...
First check your fuel filter. Its on the end of the pick up tube in the fuel tank. Could be clogged. this is a relatively easy and inexpensive place to start. Make sure the fuel supply isnt pinched anywhere along the way.

Could be a scored cylinder. A scored cylinder is common problem with all makes of chainsaws. If you dont take special care to keep the air filter clean and in perfect working condition, the wood chips and dust will enter the combustion chamber and score the cylinder walls, ruining the rings causing a loss of compression.

The piston could also have been damaged from running to lean of fuel to air mixture causing heat damage to the piston and cylinder.

Starts very easily runs for 5 seconds then dies, pump quick start bulb once, starts in 1 pull run for 5 seconds , new clean fuel, carb still has factory stops on adjusters limiting change to about 1/4...
hi , if you have a compression tester use that to test for worn piston rings /scored cylinder , if not remove the exhaust and visualise the cylinder and check for scoring , remove the spark plug and block the hole with your thumb , it should feel nice and night when you pull the saw over , if it fails then you will need replacement rings and/or piston and cylinder .

I'm unable to start the engine.It won't even kick over.
Most likely you have low compression caused by stuck piston ring or a scored piston and cylinder. This unit was made by Poulan and
they have had an epidemic of this problem. The solution is to tear the unit down and put in new piston rings. Before you install the
new rings you need to get a sheet of glass and some 600 grit wet dry sand paper. Sand each ring down about .002 to .003 and reinstall. This should solve your problem as long as you have good fire and the piston and cylinder is not scored.

Your cylinder could also just be worn out. This blower has a fairly short engine life.

Poulan leaf blower bv1850 Runs greate for about 30 seconds, then dies. Replaced fuel lines and installed carb kit. No better. Adjusted the one adjustment screw out 1-1/2 turns out for starting position....

sounds like you might have broken a piston ring. Sometimes a small piece will break-off and cause the loss of compression and if you look down the cylinder you wont see it. But it's enough to cause a problem.

Wont start
Remove muffler and inspect piston, rings, and cylinder through the exhaust port. If any vertical scoring is visible you may need a top end rebuild, if not may be dirty fuel filter, cracked fuel line etc.

stuck in gear 1999 KTM 250 SX I have a 1999 KTM 250sx. It is stuck in gear and will not change gears. No clicking sound when shifting up or down. Also, the bike will not roll freely when the clutch lever is pulled in. I got the bike used and it has always had the clutch issue since I've had it but it seems worse now since it stops shifting gears. What could be the problem? @
