Audi a6 2001 quattro 2.8 AWD 3 weeks ago my car spilled all coolant liquid on the streets while I was driving and the engine overheated. I then changed the radiator because it had leaks and the coolant reservoir completely. And even then the heater would blow cold air. After I replaced the parts I still get cold air and engine still overheats. I don`t seem to lose coolant but after it boils it goes down.. And after overheating when I stop the car the big hose that joins coolant reservoir and radiator seems to kick and makes a kicking noise for about a minute. It sounds like small knockings..
You have air trapped in system , change thermostat , bleed air from system , let it run hot while adding coolant with blower full blast on all front and rear heaters .

you must drain air out of system
so when engine is warmed up, just unscrew slightly the thermo time switch which is the highest sensor and unit in cooling system besides the reservoir, until alittle air releases then when antifreeze starts coming out then retighten to specs. BE VERY CAREFUL !!!! LOOSEN VERY SLOWLY AND NOT COMPLETELY REMOVE FOR THIS CAN CAUSE BURNS. MIGHT WANT TO USE A RAG AROUND SENSOR. If this doesnt solve it then make sure you have the correct rad. cap. Also that the filling hose is not clogged as well as the little port on radiator.

You probably have a leak in your oil cooler. This is causing the oil to bleed into your cooling system causing the "thick brown liquid". This in turn will also cause your engine to over-heat since the cooling system is contaminated.

be careful overheat expensive dont drive ok let it cool fill with water let idle watch gaugers and if it gets to three quarters on gauge and no fan problem if you have alight let run half hour from cold no fam same look for stuff unpluged let me know

You didn't say what year the car is or what other diagnostics you've done lately...My guess is the radiator core is plugged...If you want to tackle it yourself, buy a Chiltons repair manual at AutoZone or NAPA stores ($25). I suspect you'll have to order the manual.
