There are two bolts in the back of the seat it looks like you must first remove the sissy bar from the back of the bike. I just bought a 84 Shadow VT-500 and there was no sissy bar when I purchased so u could see the two screw's right above the rear light. Once the screws are out the seat comes of very easily.

Three bolts in the trunk box, remove one screw that holds the seat strap. trunk box is 10mm and seat strap is hex key on one side and 12mm on the other. after removing seat strap bolt, wiggle the seat strap till it pops off. seat will come right off!!

What kind of bike? In most rockets, the line is under the seat at the front by the batt.

I have an 83 Honda 500 shadow that will not turn off. I disconnected the ignition switch with the same results. The only way to turn off the electrical system is to disconnect the battery.

Check your starter solenoid . The main fuse is part of the starter solenoid and power goes directly from the battery to the solenoid. If there is a short from the main fuse wire to the solenoid that may be powering the bike . Next time you want to turn off the bike try unplugging the four prong plug to the solenoid . Look for the short there a new solenoid would run about $100 from Honda. The problem will either be a melted solenoid or a melted plug or both.
