Check down by the battery and the fuse box area and make sure that all the fuses are good. It may have blown a fuse when you where hot wiring it.

SOURCE: 2002 kawasaki ninja 250 motor on ATV need wiring help

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

To my knowledge, there would only be 3 wires needed from the handlebars that affects the engine:

  • engine RUN/OFF;
  • clutch ENGAGED;
  • engine START.
The first 2 would go to the interlock plus the neutral wire and the sidestand wire. The interlock then sends signals that starter motor can turn and that CDI can fire.

As to the ignition coil, 1 wire is IGN B+12 while the other would go to the CDI and should pulsate when cranking or engine running.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: engine turn over. no spark

use a ohm meter see that the cdi box is getting a signal from the pulse generator or take the cdi box to a derler and have it checked

SOURCE: My ninja 250 is not starting i have checked ever

Look for and trouble shoot the kill switch, key if u have one all the way to the starter. Proove everything is operational from your battery foreward. If it was a sudden issue my best guess is electrical. If it was a problem that increased with time I would go with Plug and Fuel delivery. Filters etc

SOURCE: 1992 ZXR 250 Ninja locked ignition & brakelight stuck on

Try jiggling the handle bars as you turn the key to relieve the pressure off the ignition lock. The kawasaki's have one position past the off "Lock" position that is called the "Acc" this will leave your brake light on. So the key switch goes "Acc", "Lock", "On". Make sure your key is in the Lock position and not the Accesory position

GO TO THE PLACE WHERE YOU BOUGHT THE BIKE THEY SHOULD HAVE A SPECIAL NUMBER SO YOU CAN GET A REPLACEMENT KEY OR CALL THE LOCK SMITH AND HE WILL MAKE YOU ONE RIGHT THERE BY YOUR BIKE.

Wiring hot wire ignition diagram

Take proof of ownership and your serial number to your dealer. They should be able to make you a key. If they cannot, you can purchase a replacement switch and key. Hot wiring the bike is never a good option.

2002 ninja 250 idels good runs bad with no power band and sounds like its running on two cylinders but both exhaust pipes get hot,it just doesnt sound like a ninja should,i put new plugs with no change

The power band on a 2002 Ninja 250 does not kick in till you hit about 5000 RPM. The newer 2008 and up 250's kick in about 3000 RPM. There is a website devoted to the Ninja 250 that might give your more background into the motorcycle: ninjette.org You may want to replace your spark plug caps they may be robbing of the spark you need at take off. They simply unscrew off of the end of the wires. They should read 5000 OHM's no higher , no lower. If you purchase new NGK brand plug caps they will only cost about $5 each.
