I have replaced coil, wires, new plugs, cam sensor and still no spark from 1 side of coil. fires an intermitent spark on #1 and no spark on # 2 with timing light hooked up. this happened after I removed the tank and carb to replace the rubber gasket on the manifold and when It went back together it ran like **** and when I seen there was no spark is when I replaced the plugs and wires. Still no spark so I changed the coil, Still no spark so I changed the cam sensor. WTF
SOURCE: FIRE and FUEL........NOT CRANKING !!!!!!!
check your ignition fuses but i think your problem is between your module and ignition switch if you got safty switches on there any one of them can cause that also.

try to adjust the air of the carburator to obtain a equal mixture of gas and air try to clean your spark plug as well.

ok buddy are you running the correct heat range plug as when wrong pluges get hot they foul and when the cool the come back to life so try that 1st also what colour are the plugs when you pull them out get back to me

Did you have the cam cover off of the engine? If so, are you sure about the cam timing. Run a compression test on the engine and see what kind of compression you have on each cylinder. You should have in excess of 100 psi on each on. If not, you may have the cams out of time. This is a common mistake on Sportsters. Where people make their mistake is when the put the pinion gear on. They try put it on with the TDC mark of the crankshaft in the timing hole. I must be aligned with the mark on pinion shaft, not the crank timing mark.
With it starting to give trouble at about 1/4 throttle, I'd also suspect that the main jet in the carb is blocked or is the wrong size. I'd need to know what kind of carb is one the engine. From the way you're describing this problem, something to do with the carb is the most likely problem.
Also check you exhaust for baffles or obstructions.
You said that you bought the bide disassembled. If the engine was disassembled, there may have been something wrong with it that caused the previous owner to disassemble the engine.

I'd check both the petcock and the fuel cap. Harley went to a vacuum operated petcock in 1996. These things do give problems. If they get a hole in the diaphragm, they won't open and let fuel into the carb. You can test this by using a hand operated vacuum pump. Disconnect the fuel hose and apply a little vacuum to the nipple on the backside of the petcock where the vacuum hose connects. You ahould have a good fuel flow. If not, you can take the petcock out of the tank and remove the plate on the rear of it. Under the plate is a spring, needle, and a diaphragm. Watch how the parts come out. Hold the diaphragm up to the light and gently stretch it while looking for a hole. Replace the diaphragm if necessary. Check the vacuum hose for cracks or leaks. Also, the vent in your fuel cap may be clogged. Loosen the cap but don't take it off with less than half a tank of fuel and go for a ride. You don't want a lap full of gasoline. See if either of these helps. It your bike will "run like a raped ape", evidently it's not high RPM that is causing the problem. It's sustained high engine speeds when the problem manifests itself that requires more fuel.
Good Luck
