SOURCE: FIRE and FUEL........NOT CRANKING !!!!!!!

check your ignition fuses but i think your problem is between your module and ignition switch if you got safty switches on there any one of them can cause that also.

have you checked the fuel pump? You can take the hose of the carb fuel rail and with the ignition on the fuel pump should spit fuel out. If it does... move on to the fuel filter it could be clogged. Good luck

SOURCE: Carb leakes gas out overflow

It doesn't take much to hang the float valve open. The smallest speck of dirt or debris will cause the float valve to not shut the flow of gasoline off. After sitting for that length of time, the carburetor needs to be completely disassembled and cleaned. Use an automotive carburetor cleaner (but do not put any plastic or rubber parts in the carb cleaning solution as they will be eaten up). While you've got the carb apart, inspect the float valve. Replace it if there's a groove worn into the tapered seat. Installing an in-line fuel filter may help, too.

Your choke needs tweeking. I wouldn't mess with the carb, frankly. The settings are optimal for all operating conditions. You need to allow your bike more warmup time. There is that possibility it is time for new plugs, and maybe one ot two heat ranges hotter.

Make a friend at the parts counter of your Honda Shop. I find that is a great source of information and solutions for my motorcycle issues.

It may need a good tuneup, too.

Sounds like you still have an issue wit the carbthat feeds the front cylinder. (A sticking float, or dirt in the needle will allow fuel to keep running)

Cranks no start or fire add gas down throat of carbs and it back fires out pipes and carbs

bikes that sit for long periods of time need there points or electronics pick-ups serviced , rust and aluminum corrosion happens over time on these

miss fires are sure signs of this to mean out of time

and yes the carbs/tank will need a total cleaning out too

Nobody has messed around with the ignition timing in any way?

If it has stood for a long time(i.e years..) the fuel may have degraded to the point that it\'s useless.

The carbs will smell of fuel, but are you sure that fuel is being pumped to them in sufficient quantity? Try disconnecting a fuel line, crank the engine a few revolutions to see if fuel is pumped out.

Try gravity feeding the carbs. Use a can of fuel connected to the carbs, held above the engine. Get somebody to crank the engine and see if it fires up. If the engine fires up, suspect the fuel pump.. or fuel lines.

An air leak can also cause non-starting. The usual cause is the inlet manifold gasket. Any air leaking through the gasket can cause your non-starting problem. Go back and check that no dirt has been picked up by the gasket before you fitted it/it hasn\'t been ripped. Check that the inlet manifold has been correctly tightened.

It doesn\'t sound as though you have much of a problem .. more of a \'niggle\'.

82 suzuki dr 250 4 stroke starts fine idols fine crank throttle back fires no power

This could indicate a number of issues especially with a unit of this age. You stated that the problem started after the crash. Have you done a proper job of carb cleaning and reassembly( check for blockage in the main jet circuit as you state that it idles properly as well as proper fuel level in carb bowl). back firing is a symptom of a lean condition- lack of enough fuel. Also check for air leaks around the carb manifold and the vacuum hose circuit to the fuel petcock. This can be done by spraying wd40 or a carb cleaner around these areas while idling. A change in engine rpm when spraying indicates a leak. Another possibility relate to the crash may be ignition wiring that got chaffed, shorted, or otherwise disturbed such as a rotated switch housing during the crash which is now causing a short. Inspect the wiring GOOD in a dark enviornment while the backfire is presenting itself and look for arching. I hope this helps!

I have an issue with a 87 toyota pick up carburetor. Sometimes it doesnt want to start and sometimes it does a friend told me its that diaphram on the front of the carb with the 3 bolts but he could not...

Okay, your freind may be right, that part is called the accelerator pump, it is used for starting the truck, when you pump the gas to start it this pumps a few squirts of gas into the carb. what concerns me is that you hold the gas pedal to the floor to start it, most of the time an internal leaking carb floods the engine and holding the pedal down will let it start, a quick test would be to use a carb cleaner spray and before trying to start the truck hit the gas pedal and see if inside from the top of the carb look and see if you see a squirt of gas spray out, you will need some one to push the gas pedal or you can do it at the carb, if it squirts gas then the accelerator pump may be good and carb may be leaking and need rebuilding but if it doesnt squirt then its bad and then i want you to spray the carb cleaner into the carb and try to start the truck and if its due to the accel pump then after you spray into carb the truck should fire up and run without having to hold the pedal to the floor, if thats the case then replace accel pump if it still doesnt fire until you hold gas down then crab needs rebuilding . good day. hope this is helpful.

Saw floods out at initail start. Saw turns off after releasing ths gas trigger.

Are you following the correct start procedure? make sure the air filter is clean, switch the ignition on, pull out the choke fully, if fitted, engage the half throttle lock, crank engine un til it fires once, push the choke fully in, do not continue to crank the engine with the choke out after the first fire, crank the engine again until it fires up and runs, if you are following this procedure and still have problems, then the rubber tipped needle in the carb is leaking, if you have a bulb pressure tester connect it to the fuel inlet on the carb, pressure up to 2 psi, the needle should be steady and no leak, if you do not have a tester, you will have to remove the carb and replace the needle as a matter of course, let us know if you need help with this.

I have a 1991 honda cr 250 I cant get to start at fist gas ran right thru carb and out bottom i took carb apart and got the floats to stop sticking cleaned it out with carb cleaner put back together but...

try a new spark plug. if u fowl out a plug some time they will not fire under compression.2 strokes need. fuel, fire and air, very simple engines.it is possible crank seal are bad .that doesn't allow the engine to create vacuum in the crank case.thus fuel and air will not make it to combustion chamber.

I have an 05 v star 1100 custom that backfires alot and wont run with the choke off it also dogs down when i give it a little gas i have put sea foam in the gas but still has problem what else can i do to...

back fire, bogs down and choke required means it is lean.
Check fuel filter, fuel tap
intake air leaks, loose clamps, cracked rubber
vacumn hose off
valve clearance
loose jets in carb \dirt in carbs
part of a carb coming loose , like the top cap

The back fire can be because of carbon fouled plugs, caused by the choke on.
air intake leaks can sometimes be found by spraying WD around intake rubbers, while running and listening for engine change.
The rest is mainly visual inspection and adjusmnet
