Leaking fork seal on 2007 r1200gs adventure

I have the tools to change the seal but need the specs for the job. Due for fork oil change in 1500 miles and figure I might as well change it now considering that I have to change a seal that is leaking.

SOURCE: i have replaced fork seals

Hi,
I am assuming the old oil is drained.
Once the tops are opened, lift the bike onto the center stand which will make the forks extend. Refill through the top of the fork with 12 oz of fork oil. The manual states that you must use oil with a weight of approximately SAE 3, and the amount going in needs to be equal in each fork.
Hope this helps

I believe that the Adventure model is higher, has stone guards etc... and is more orientated to long distance traveling...eg: bigger fuel capacity.

I have an oil leak on the left front shock and want to konw if i can repair it myself. the oil leaks out the middel where the top half of the shock slides int the bottom half. oil seal leaking. was...

it s something you can do yourself if you're mechanically inclined and pay attention to detail. there are some special tools you need, such as a fork spring compressor, fork seal driver, and snap ring pliers if you don't have any. the internal parts in the fork must go in the same way they came out, and all parts should be cleaned prior to reassembly. you should also consider replacing the bushings along with the fork seals and dust covers. might really want to consider letting a professional do it so that way the forks still don't leak after you put in the new parts.

Liquid seeping from front forks

Sounds like the fork seals. There are two per side. These require some special tools to install, not including getting the forks off. It's not a simple job, and I recommend taking them to a pro. Also, your fork oil is probably due to be changed anyway!!!

2001 yzf426 front fork leak

Each fork has an outer dust seal, and an inner seal inside of that. Dirt gets between the seal lip and the fork slider and causes the oil to escape. The fix is to have them (Both sides) replaced. You need a fork seal driver tool (Size specific for the size of the fork) and something to measure out the oil amount. It's not an easy job, if you have never done it. Also... if the oil has never been changed, it's due.

How do you adjust the height of the front suspension on a 2007 1100 v star? mine bottoms out when stopping or bumpy roads.

Height is not adjustable on those. Your only option would to replace the springs in the forks with a higher rate spring, and get better valving to slow down the jounce of the bike.
