Question about 2001 Honda VT 600 C Shadow
My motorcycle slows down and dies when going up a hill, even with a full tank of gas i have cleaned the carb, and checked the fuel lines, and fuel filter, and gas tank. none of the are the problem i have been trying to fix it for 3 months but nothing i do fixes it.
Carbs gummed up. Need a serious cleaning or a full ruubers replacement/rebuild kit. Gas turns to gummy when left stting in the fuel bowls.
Use a couple of cans of Sea Foam.. best stuff in the world.

Sounds like a loose piece of crud in the main jet. Have you had the jet and tube above it out? It could also be a spark problem. See if you have spark when it tries to die ( put a nail in the plug boot and get it sparking 1/4" or so to the plug at idle then rev it up, it should continue jumping. I think that bike will also have mechanical spark advance on the rotor on the end of the cam. If the springs are loose on that the spark timing will be all over the map and can make it run intermittantly.

I guess you will have to reset the air-mixture screws of the carburator/s.
Not bad if you check the condition of the spark plugs...if its ..'Whitish' means lean i.e. less gas in, Brownish...means ok, 'Blackish'...means too much gas in .....'rich'
In your bike's case you may find it 'whitish'.
Hope this helps !
