SOURCE: My 2008 1200 sportster is back firing and shooting

Well, yes it is somewhat normal, you have hot rodded it up. What happens is a bit of unused gas now gets buy the cylinder and explodes in the pipe instead of the cylinder. It happens due to scavenging, the new shorter pipes and the better filter allow more fuel to move quicker. If she has a carburetor it will need to be re-jetted but still may shoot flames. If fuel injected she will need dealer help.

SOURCE: i have a 2008 flhx

I've heard great things about the Terry components tuner but havnt used one yet. If u plan on doing any motor work or anything in the future I would use the hd super tuner. The power commander is also really nice and there are alot of maps available online for free. If u have a local dealer or shop u like using, see what they prefer to tune with on their dyno, that way if u have an issue with the bike they will be familiar with the component. Good luck!

Throttle position sensor noisy

Are you sure it's not the idle air valve as they can sound louder after changing to a high flow filter...take the filter off and shine a light in the intake when turning the ignition on and off. The idle valve is just inside the intake in a hole at the top...see if it moves in time with the noise that you hear

Need ideas to successfully mount FLHTCUSE4 "stock" air cleaner cover to Screamin' Eagle Stage 1 filter.

If you have the screaming eagle cover to compare it to it is easier but if not you can cut back the "sides", sometimes leaving the front the original size.

Would like to make the bike much faster ,i have put rinehards exhaust had it Dino tuned and also added a bigger air filter and ignition

Ok, the next thing to do is select a good high torque camshaft. There are many companies that make cams sets for your bike. Harley has their Screaming Eagle high performance line. But, don't count out S&S, HeadQuarters, Competition Cams with their V-thunder line, and many others. Go for low end torque as much of it as you can get rather than top end horsepower.

My 2005 Harley FLSTC sputters and idles too low since changed the pipes and put a set of screaming eagles on

Almost any time you change either the exhaust or the air filter on a motorcycle, you must retune the fuel system.

If your bike is carb equipped, you'll probably have to go up one size on the slow jet and idle the engine up a bit. The idle speed screw is located at the top of the carb towards the front of the bike. You may have to take the air filter cover off to get to it. Changing the slow jet will require a partial disassembly of the carb. If your slow jet is a #45, you'll need either a #48 or a #50 jet.

If your bike is fuel injected, you'll have to take it to a dealer to get the fuel map changed.

Good Luck

I installed a powercommander 5 on my 09 fat bob-it ran good for a week and now the bike is hesitating and seems to be misfiring at low r.p.m-plugs appear more black than what seems normal for a bike w/300...

Unplug the power commander first. It could be bad. They occasionally are defective. If it cures up the problem, then contact who you pruchased it from. if it doesn't make sure the mapping is actually for you application. it could be running on the rich side and it's taking a little while to finally load up.
