The computer controls idle speed by the idle air control valve on the side of the throttle body. The valve regulates the amount of air entering the intake. The throttle body could be dirty or the control valve may be faulty.
If your Fatboy is carb equipped you need to set the idle speed a bit higher. If you're still running the stock carb, remove the air cleaner cover. You'll see a square looking plastic top on the carb. Just to the right (toward the front of the bike) you'll see a screw. This is the idle stop screw. Turn it clockwise to increase the idle speed. Set the idle speed with the engine at full operating temp. It should idle at about 1000 RPM.
If your bike is fuel injected, you'll have to take it to a shop to get the idle speed set as it's done electronically.
This was copied from a site on the web. I personally have used the instructions below and it worked for restoring my G1. Once it is restored, you may want to try to run the update again.
1. Turn the G1 off. If it’s frozen on, take the battery out and put
it back in the unit.
2. Hold the Home and Power keys
down at same time for about 25 seconds. You will see a yellow triangle
screen with exclamation point in the middle.
Now to wipe the device clean:
3. Press Alt+L.
4. Press Alt+W for a factory reset.
5. Press the Home and Back keys
again for about 25 seconds.
The phone should reset again and the hard reset is complete.
Hello so i have a G1 the screen stopped working. I cant accesess my contacts. I cant make a call. This is pissing me off please help me! This phone is really nice and straight just random problems popping up which really sucks!
listen for a hissing noise(vacuum leak around the pcv elbows or upper intake gaskets) this will cause a high idle set off lean codes which will say bad o2 sensors alson check idle air control valve which is located by throtlle body this will stick causing the vehichle to not run at idle sometimes taking it off and cleaning the carbon buildup out will fix the problem use some break cleaner
ok people i have solved the problem with the g1 not recognizing being hooked up to the computer. the usb cords that are sent with the g1 are very crappy. use another usb mini to connect to your computer. theres no installation required just hook it up and select mount and open up my computer and go to removable disk to access you files.
