Tail lights not working, brake and turn signals work.
Well its an 85 to begin with . Lot s of these vehicles are kept in garages most of the time but still rust never sleeps . You say that the brake and blinkers work thats a good sign . What you need to out is witch lights control the running lights .I mean are they a seperate light or work in conjuntion with the blinkers .In witch case a bad connection at the bulb or a burned out bulb could cause this . But hte most likely cause is a broken ground wire to the lights or a bad ground witch would go to the frame . Try looking under it and pull on ground wires and see if it starts to work they would be black wires and go to the frame or body And you will have to remove the screws that hold the lens in and the assmbely houseing to get a good look at it . Its a bad ground or bad light bulb

You will have to change out the actual socket that the bulbs plug in to. I had one of my brake lights go out recently and replaced it with a new bulb, just for it to burn out again and not come on. I purchased the whole light assembly (plug that goes into the actual rear light cover with the bulb snapped into it). It only costs around $13.00 to replace each socket. The Jeep dealership stated that all Grand Cherokee's have a problem with shorting out the light socket plugs. Take your bulbs out of your tail light assembly and see if the socket plug is burnt a little. Mine was, and once I replaced the whole piece, my lights starting working again.

We had the same problem with ours, that is a Saturn recall items. Check with your Saturn dealer to see if it is still in effect. It use to make our headlight switch get hot. I think it was a poor ground in the taillight housing, I use to wiggle the bulb plug-ins and that helped for a while, but after the recall was fixed it never did it again.
SOURCE: tail lights work on both sides. turn signal and
check fuse to driver side turn signal lamp.check brake light bulb or replace bulb on driver side.also replace the front driver side turn signal bulb that is flashing fast.
SOURCE: rear tail lights not working
If both tail lights are not working it is likely to be a fuse or bad connection under the hood or a connector at the back see if you can trace the wires to a connector and see if it is dirlty or corroded.
