Gearbox oil capacity 1990 KTM 540

I need the amount in litres to fill the gearbox with oil, can anyone help, please? @

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, determine if there is a clicking sound when the START button is pressed. The click is significant. If there is, this indicates that the starting relay is engaging but for some reason, the starter motor is not cranking. This could either indicate a faulty starter relay (particularly the contacts) or a faulty starter motor (specifically, the carbon brushes). To determine which:

with the side covers off, expose the starter relay particularly the 2 large terminals;
have somebody start the bike normally using the key and button start switch;
determine if indeed the clicking is coming from the starter relay;
while the start button is still pressed, jump the 2 big terminals;
if the engine cranks, then the internal contacts of the starter relay are corroded or burned;
if the engine will not crank, then the starter motor is faulty.

Your problem is coming from the waterpump seal. When the seal goes bad it lets oil from the crankcase into the waterpump and vise versa. The only other problem it could be is the head gasket but you would feel a loss of power.

There is a pipe at the rear of the of the oil run that is connected to the frame. unfasten it on the frame and the oil will drain. There are no plugs at the bottom of the Sportsters.

I use just under a quart however there is on most bikes a number near the filler plug on the case it will have the letters cc next to it this is cubic centimeters of liquid go to the metric to standard conversion chart on the web to find the metric to standard conversion to be absolutely sure of the exact amount for your bike.

What type I need gearbox oil and how many liter I need pls advise

is this a manual or automatic. manual trans take 80/90 weight gear oil and you fill it to the bottom of the fill hole. the amount depends on if your topping it up or changing all the oil. most take about 4 litres. at any rate fill to bottom of fill hole. if automatic you can use Dexron trans fluid or Honda trans fluid. fill until the level is within the add and full marks on the dip stick.

Castrol SMX-X would be a good oil for a gearbox with that amount of mileage and is a ford recommended oil

What is the sump oil capacity?

Is the gearbox oil capacity but you don't need to know it, Buy 4 litres, fill up to oil level indicator, fit cap, run engine for 1 minute, leave to settle for 5 minutes then re check level and top up as required. If filter changed this is required to back fill it before your final top up. Whats left of your new oil keep for topups thru the year.

My 2000 vw passet is reving high when going up a hill and very slugish it as 85000 on the clock and i av been recomenned to change the transmission fluid

How to check & change oil in automatic transmission on 2000 VW Passat 4Motion:

At the bottom of the automatic gearbox (tiptronic) you will find 2 threaded plugs on below surface. First (in front of the car) is for emptying, and second is for filling up. Tightening torque is 24 Nm.

Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) checking:
1. Requirements for check:
1.1. Vehicle standing on level surface.
1.2. Transmission must not be in fail-safe mode.
1.3. Shift lever in "P" position, parking brake applied.
1.4. Engine idling.
1.5. Air Conditioner and heater OFF.
1.6. ATF temperature must not exceed 104 Fahrenheit degree (40 Celsius degree) at start of test.
1.7. Only ATF with designation ESSO LT 71 141 may be used. Do not use any lubricant additives.
1.8. Automatic Transmission Fluid ATF - part number: G 052 162 A2 (1 liter wrapping)
1.9. An ATF level check when transmission oil temperature is too low results in overfilling, when too high results in underfilling.
2. CAUTION: Too much or too little ATF will affect the operation of the transmission. The ATF level must be checked at regular intervals.
3. The oil level is correct if a slight amount of oil runs out when ATF temperature is between 86 Fahrenheit degree (30 Celsius degree) and 113 F deg (45 C deg) (caused by increase of oil level when heated). For warmer climates, 122 F deg (50 C deg).
4. Hang filled ATF reservoir VAG 1924 as high as possible.
5. Shift lever in "P" position, engine running at idle.
6. Place oil drip pan under transmission oil pan.
7. Remove ATF filler plug (at the bottom of the automatic gearbox you will find 2 threaded plugs on below surface. First (in front of the car) is for emptying, and second is for filling up.
8. With ATF temperature between 86 Fahrenheit degree (30 Celsius degree) and 113 F deg (45 C deg), for warmer climates, 122 F deg (50 C deg), a slight amount of oil will flow from filler hole when ATF level is correct.
9. If necessary drain or top off ATF to attain correct oil level. Top ATF with filler hook from VAG 1924 ATF reservoir. Insert VAG 1924 (tool) ATF reservoir filler hook into filler hole and top off until a slight amount of oil flows from filler hole.
NOTE: Fit filler hook into one of the oil deflector cap slots placed on the filler opening.
CAUTION: Do not press filler hook upward or oil deflector cap can be pushed off.
10. Reinstall ATF filler plug. Tightening torque is 24 Nm.

The automatic gearbox oil capacity (drain & refill) is 2,6 ... 3,0 litres.
The front differential oil capacity is 0,75 litres. Oil type: SAE 75 W / 90 Synthetic.
The rear differential oil capacity is 1,5 litres. Oil type: SAE 90.

L have a 2000 vw 4motion need to change automatic gearbox oil how do l put in new oil and how many liters does it take

In 3 buckets, two Buckets filled with 20 litres of water, first- 19 litres capacity(max) second- 13 litres capacity(max)-Filled third- 7 litres capacity(max) -Filled i need to fill 2 buckets with 10...

Assume the following:
B1 = 19 litres capacity
B2 = 13 litres capacity
B3 = 7 litres capacity

B2 and B3 are full. The answer is:

1. Pour 2 litres from B3 to B1
2. Pour 8 litres from B2 to B1
3. Pour the remaining 5 litres in B3 to B2

Another answer:

1. Pour 10 litres from B2 to B1
2. Pour 7 litres from B3 to B2

In both answers you will get 10 litres in two buckets.

Can you advise the oil capacity of automatic Gearbox Transmision

For 2004 BMW 745i, (E65 & E66 type), the oil capacity of automatic Gearbox Transmision, (GA6 HP26Z type), is 9.0 litres.
Oil type: Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) Shell M1375.4
