FLHTI Electra Glide Standard
SOURCE: replace rear brake pads
Remove right saddlebag, pull the two caliper mounting bolts and remove the caliper. Do not open bleeder or disconnect line. You will need to push a large screwdriver between the old pads before removing them in order to push the pucks back into the caliper or the new pads will not spread enough to reinstall. Then pull the two smaller bolts from the caliper and the pads will fall out. The pads are different for inside and outside, so pay attention, and remember, after reinstalling, before riding, be sure to pump brake pedal, and it may take a few stops before brakes stop as effectively as before.

check all the mountings are tight & not damaged
the main shaft bearings in the gear box may be worn allowing movement, & when under load then unloaded gives you that thump!
Cheers Rob
Testimonial: "MOTORMOUNTS OK WONDERING MAYBE THE CLUTCH BASKET MAY BE WORN OR NEEDS ADJUSTMENT. ALSO WHEN IN GEAR AND I TURN THE REAR WHEEL THE PRIMARY CHAIN TURNS."
SOURCE: how to do an oil service as well as how often
To change the oil on your bike, stand your bike up as straight as you can safely. Look beneath the transmission. There are two drain plugs under there. The one near the middle of the oil pan is the drain for the transmission. The one near the left front of the pan is the engine oil drain. Remove it drain the oil and retighten. Change the oil filter by screwing the old one off and a new on. Tighten the filter 3/4 turn after it makes contact with it's sealing surface on the engine. Add three quarts of H-D Syn3 20W50 oil. There is a cap right where the engine and transmission come together with a knurled outer edge. Pull this cap up and you'll see a dipstick. Pour the oil in here where the plug came out.
If you drain the transmission, just to the rear of the oil dipstick you'll see a chrome cover with a plug that takes a large hex key or allen wrench to get out. Take this plug out and you'll see a dipstick on it as well. If you drained the transmission, add 20-24 ounces of H-D Syn3 20W50 oil or H-D transmission lubricant.
To change the primary oil, just below the large "derby cover" is a drain plug that takes a Torx type wrench to remove. Remove the plug to drain the oil and the five screws that hold the derby cover on. Remove the derby cover. Look at the clutch assembly. The outer part, the outer clutch drum is made of aluminum. Just inside this is a black colored disc that is the diaphragm clutch spring. Replace the drain plug and add oil just to the bottom of this spring, no higher or the clutch will drag. The lubricant is H-D primary lube, 40-44 ounces.
Once you get the bike back on the side stand, start the engine and let it run for a couple of minutes to fill up the oil filter. Now check the oil with the bike on the stand using the dipstick. There are two marks on the stick. One is "Full Cold" and the other "Full Hot". If the oil checks low on the "Full Cold" side, add oil until it reaches the mark. Do not overfill or the filler cap will pop out when the oil heats up and expands.
As for the 20K service, if you want a complete list, it's just too much for me to list here. I can scan you a copy and send it to you if you'll contact me directly at [email protected]
SOURCE: I have a 2005 electra glide standard how much oil
The transmission usually holds 20-24 ounces of H-D Syn3 20W50 oil.
The primary usually holds 36-44 ounces of the same. The best way to fill the primary is to stand the bike up straight and fill the primary until the oil just barely comes to the lower edge of the clutch spring. If you get too much oil in the primary, the clutch will drag and make finding neutral impossible with the engine running.
Good Luck
