Possible cause is a crack in the fuel filter shell which is installed inside the fuel tank. Harley has a recall for affected models. Post your VIN number or go to your local dealer and ask him is there a recall for your bike. All he will need is the VIN number and any recalls will be done under warranty. By the way, not sure of the year of your bike but it may still be under warranty anyway. Other than that there could be a TP sensor fault.

2007 Harley night train died at stops or idled so low had to throttle up to keep it running , used carb cleaner on throttle body sprayed at 12 o' clock used compressed air to blow clean, did this 2 times then removed all 15 amp fuses then put them back in , removed throttle cover at handlebars , liberally put drops of cable oil until satisfied it was well lubed , been riding it for 3 days ( 60) miles with no problems , it was dieing at stops and idling erratically , don't know which fixed it? try them all ...can't hurt" ...Blankie"

You need to adjust the idle speed or if the bike had been running OK and nothing has been adjusted, the idle jet (carb)needs cleaning out or the MAS/throttle body(injection) needs attention. Other reasons include points (if fitted) and plug gaps, or air filter/scoop clogged.

High idle

Check codes and see if P0505 is set or historical. It could be the IAC or an intermittent open in it ot its wiring.

I have a 2007 street glide that dies at idle when coming to a stop, also back fires when slowing down.

Have the computer re-mapped. I have the same bike with a stage 1 upgrade. The race tuner was bad. Dealer removed it, remapped the stock computer with the stage 1 settings and all has been well since.

Idling high

Your sucking in air on the induction circuit somewhere. Probably a split in a pipe around the carbs. This leans out te mixture and raises the revs.
