Actually as the tires wear the error increases. If you have a mechanical speedometer and you're fairly mechanically minded you can take the speedo apart pull the retaining pin on the watch spring, increase the tension a bit and put it back together. I've done that before. Not sure how your instruments are made, but you don't want to destroy things doing so. The other option is to get some stick on numbers and stick them on the bezel at their appropriate positions. For example, stick 45 over the 55 speedo number. Check at sign makers to see if them can fix you up with numbers. Any more they have machines that laser cut adhesive vinyl and can make any desig you want. ,,,

98 neon spedometer works only some times even after i replaced the speed sensere

Perhaps it's the Speedometer in the dash, not the sensor? Try ebay or a junkyard for a replacement speedometer. Try the Cars & Trucks category for a car expert.

06 chrylser 300 srt8 speedometer shows 10 mph faster

have you changed the wheels and tires on you vehicle to aftermarket ones? if so, the chrysler dealer can "relearn" the new tire size that is on you car, adjusting the speedometer accordingly

Spedometer not working

Your speedometer sensor is on the rear tail shaft of the transmission. This is defective or the wires to it has melted on the exhaust system. If your odometer is racking up the miles with no speedometer then the speedometer in the dash is defective.

I need to locate where the Speedometer Cable is located in my 1997 Jeep Cherokee Country V6 4WD.

Seen some on the trans tailshaft and some on the transfer case. It's not a cable, its a wire....Works like the little generator we used to put on bicycles to power a headlight...faster it goes, the more output...Spedometer head is pretty much a big voltmeter with numbers on it. I've also heard that some are like a revolution counter like they use on machines in factories. (don't know that for sure.) Also don't know what year they started using it, so I could be wrong on what it is but not where!

Odometer,spedometer,radio

My nephew has a 96 taurus also when his radio went out he noticed that his speedometer was not working as well so we check the fuses under the dashboard and found that a fuse from the radio memory was blown . We replaced it and the radio and speedometer and the odometer worked fine

1997 Geo Metro speedometer and odometer do not work

Let me guess, it goes up to about 30, stays there, and if you go faster (past what would be the halfway point of your speedometer) it starts dropping below 30. It sounds like the type of speedometer that uses two magnetic cores at 90 degrees to each other, and one has gone out.

Troubleshooting and repair should be similar to this: http://www.fieros.de/en/articles/speedo.html
