The bike was running fine but it started bogging really bad and dying. it would start and run fine again for a little bit but then bog again. i cleaned the carb and it didnt fix the problem. the bike has good spark. now the bike will start and idle, but it idles like the choke is stuck on. then as soon as i give it throttle it bogs even worse and dies. i checked the choke and it is functioning fine.

hi,this may help, check the inline fuel filter and the air filter,if it has been sitting that long the fuel filter may have gummed up(a slightly gummy residue left behind after fuel evaporates) the engine will run ok at low and medium throttle but the filter will be quite restrictive once the load goes on,change the filter and clean the air filter and you might find the problem disappears...hope this helps...cheers
SOURCE: my yz2f0f starts/runs (idles) fine while being choked...
sounds like you might have some trash in carb being a clogged pilot or main or needle seat in not letting in the proper amount of gas check all passages and use fresh gas if it has been sitting

Has the bike been stored for any long length of time?
old fuel in the carburetor will turn to a varnish like residue blocking the jets,or possibly water in the carburetor.
Testimonial: "The bike was not stored and was ridden regularly, but it still sounds like it could be the carburetor. Thanks for your insight."

I have the same problems with my 1999 TTR 250, were you able to find out anything?

if the bike was running fine before you replaced pipe, you may need larger jets,or richen fuel mix, also check the reed valve it may be on the weak side.try a new spark plug also if you have not already replaced it.
