SOURCE: my banshee wont shift past 2 gear

You have a bent shift fork. The repair means taking the engine out of the frame then removing the top end, removing the flywheel and electrics, removing the clutch , shift mechanism and kick starter and a few other parts. THEN you are ready to split the gearbox to remove the gears and crankshaft and then the shift drum and bent shift fork. Next you get to put it all back together. This is a pretty big job for the home mechanic.

You will need an impact driver, flywheel puller, case splitter and torque wrench plus the normal screwdriver, pliers, etc.. Alternate to the special tools is taking it to the dealer and say "Fix it".
I normally tell people to take it to the shop just so they don't get into such an involved project.

Check the gears mabey they are skipping when the bike goes to fast. like at 3/4 throttle theres to much torque an it just wont catch.

SOURCE: 2007 yamaha ttr 125 wont go into gear. starts

gear selector may be jammed inside the casing or broken
check that the shifter is tight on the shaft!
check clutch adjustment
try rocking bike back n forth without using clutch while you try ******* the gear lever it may come unstuck
but get it looked at if it frees up!

Check the electrical switch in the clutch lever, most bikes have one as a safety, so you cant start it in gear, unless the clutch is in, could be a faulty switch, also do you have a switch on your side stand, sometimes these can be faulty as well.

What does each gear mean, ie.: is gear 1 for hills, etc. what do I do if chain comes off? If I need a part, where do I go to get it?

1. The ratio of the driving gear to the driven gear is the gear ratio. Lower ratios give higher torque; higher ratios give higher speed. You can't have both.

Search engine "how do gears work on a bicycle"; "what do I do if chain comes off"; "how to shift a bicycle". Many videos and resources.

2. Bicycle shops, eBay, online Search Engines
