My Jeep is very slow to shift out of first to second. Slow to shift from 2nd to 3rd and shifts back from 3rd to 2nd too soon and from 2nd to 1st too soon.... Sometimes will stay in first until I get it up to 40mph and let off the throttle. ???? Valve Body??? Governor ??? What gives??? Why is this info under lock and key?

Reboot system by disconnecting negative terminal on Battery, with ignition Key on and engine not running, remove terminal for more than two minutes and connect it back, it will spark a little do not panic, and try it again

I had a shifting problem. The car would start in the wrong gear and shift at wrong times. I repaced the governor postion sensor and tranny fluid and the problem has been fixed for several years. Did you replace the tranny fluid?
SOURCE: transmission wont shift
check the kickdown/throttle valve cable. It may be bound up and stuck in the maximum position giving you extremely late shifts.
There ISN"T any modulators or vac lines on any Chrysler automatics
SOURCE: the engine rpms rev when shifting
Your trans is slipping, u are going to need to have it checked out at a trans shop, they will test drive it in most cases for free and report what they think is wrong or recommend more diagnostic work if they are unsure..
SOURCE: engine running, put it in drive, wont start in
The transmission is in limp mode, usually causeed by gov pressure sensor bad or fluid other than atf+4 was used.
