When I poor water into my Bmw it poors straight to the ground

Assuming the water (hopefully you mean water/anti-freeze coolant mixture) is going into the filler cap hole at the top of the radiator expansion reservoir, there are several possibilities: lower radiator hose not connected, radiator drain plug missing or loose or gasket missing, hole in expansion reservoir or radiator, coolant level sending unit missing or loose or gasket missing.

How to fit thermostat

remove hose . remove the thermostat housing. clean up the faces. place new thermostat in position with the body of the unit facing the water(Block or head) refit hose and refill with coolant. Let idle until warm water flows through the top radiator hose . check coolant level and add coolant until the radiator remains full. Coolant should be an ethelene glycol mixture of a minimum of 50/50 mix

I have a 2000 Mercury Sable and my car over heated and lost all coolent. When I looked the top hose came apart. I want to know which hose is it and how to replace it. :)

the top hose usually comes from the (intake manifold)thermostat and to the radiator for cooling. There is a clamp at each end of the hose. either a flat head screw clap or a pliers pressure clamp. make sure the motor is cold, release the clamp at each end of the hose, remove the hose and it may be fitted by presure and need to be loosened by working it back and fourth but gentley anf it will come loose, replaec it with a new onew one, and tighten the clamp or replace the clamps. refill with the correct amount of coolant( see service dealer or parts service supplier).

Loss water thru reservoir, so i have to refill the radiator and some times get hotter.

You shouldn't have to refill the actual radiator unless you either have a leak in it or the vacuum from it to reservoir is not good (loose hose, bad radiator cap). Adding directly to the radiator increases the chance of debris falling into the radiator and can easily clog it. Get a new radiator cap, check all around for coolant leaks and make sure hose from under cap to reservoir is tight and unclogged.

Rad hose has air lock how do you get the lock out..

When a cooling system has been drained, air is allowed to enter the system. Before refilling the radiator, remove a heater hose or the upper radiator hose and thermostat from the engine side. Then, pour the antifreeze / water mixture into the cooling system until it comes out of the heater hose nipple or thermostat housing. The idea is to vent the air from the system at the highest point possible. This way, air is purged form the system and only liquid is contained. When the liquid just starts to run out, replace the hose that was taken off and finish refilling the system. It's easy, it's free, and it works! And, it could save you from thousands of dollars in engine damage.

Leak where lower radiator hose connects to engine, how does it connect to block and is it difficult to repair the leak?

Real easy. The hose is held on by a jubilee clip. Best bet is to remove the hose (it will mean the radiator and block become drained of coolant) and clean the outside of the metal tube on which the hose is mounted. Sometimes corrosion here leads to leaks so scrape clean and polish with wire brush. Ensure that the hose is in good shape and that its interior has no bits of corrosion or dirt clinging to it. Slip the hose on to the tube and tighten the clip up. Refill the cooling system with a mixture of 1 part glycol antifreeze to 2 parts water. If in the Northern states make that mixture a ratio of 1 part glycol to 1 part water. Ensure the filer cap is on type and run engine up to operating temperature. Squeeze the top hose to help expel any air bubbles from the system. When the engine has cooled again check coolant levels and top up to make up for the expulsion of trapped air.

Cooling fan is on all the time

There are only a couple reasons for the cooling fan running constantly. Either the temperature sensor is faulty or the car is running to hot.
In most cases it's the car running to hot. There are several possible causes for this.

  • Corrosion build up in the radiator and engine water jacket.
  • Incorrect radiator fluid/water ratio.
  • A faulty thermostat.
The first thing that should be done is to drain the radiator and refill it with water and a radiator flush.
A good indication of corrosion in the system will be a brown color to the fluid that was first drained.
Once you have allowed enough time for the flush to do it's job. Drain it and refill with water. Run the engine for 10 more minutes and then drain it again. Now refill it using the correct radiator fluid and water ratio.
If the problem persists the next thing to do is replace the thermostat.
This is relatively simple to do and can be completed in under an hour with basic tools.
The thermostat is located on the engine where the large radiator house is attached. Undo the hose clamp and any bolts holding the thermostat housing on. Once you pull that off you will see the thermostat. Replace it, making sure to install the new one the same way the old one comes off. Now reinstall the housing and house.
If this doesn't take care of the issue you may need to seek a mechanic for help.
I hope this helps.

To flush radiater

There are 2 hoses going to your radiator, one near the top and one near the bottom. With the engine cool, remove the radiator cap and then disconnect the lower hose from the radiator (BE SURE to have a catch can to catch all of the fluid!!!!, a few sips of this stuff will kill most cats/dogs). Once all of the fluid has drained out, reconnect the hose and fill the system with water and a radiator flush/cleaner (autoparts store). Drain it once again and refill the system with the correct mixture (usually 50/50 water and antifreeze). Or you can buy the pre-mixed kind at the store.

Good luck!

1988 jeep wrangler

If you are trying to solve an overheating problem this will not achieve anything, but if just to clean out dirty coolant this is how its done..
When engine is cold !!! with radiator in vehicle.
1/ Remove Top and bottom radiator hoses.
2/ Insert garden hose into bottom hose connection of radiator (Use a rag to help seal the connection) turn on water fully to reverse flush radiator till water comes out of top connection, repeat a couple of times.
3/ Reconnect hose to radiator , fill with clean water only.
4/ Run engine till it reaches normal temperature, then switch off engine and allow to cool.
5/ Remove bottom hose to drain system again, refit hose and refill with a good coolant mixture according to you climate.
