think its at the back of the engine on the filter housing if not look on the head right side at the back ,or is that the VW ?? now if only i had a memory ,think its on the filter head at the back of the engine though ,seem to remember a leaky one sometime that i say when i changed the starter motor
transmission oil filters are normally inside the transmission and will require the pan to be removed . They will not need attention unless you have drastic problems with the transmission
Mostly all that is needed is a an oil change
The PCV valve does not control the oil situation, it just keeps the pans and valve covers from blowing off during a backfire. Excessive Oil in the breather is a result of excessive crankcase pressures, usually due to a worn engine, specifically rings.
SOME oil is normal, especially if you are loaded heavily and hard on the throttle.
There is a tester that measures crankcase pressures, but usually some other manifestation shows, like excessive oil consumption.
the PCV system draws crankcase fumes into the intake at idle and lower throttle situations. air going into the crankcase is filtered by the small PCV filter, where the oil shows up....
At highter throttle and lower intake manifold pressures, the system reverses, the PCV valve closes, and the fumes exit the crankcase VIA the breather filter. All of this is normal.
It costs tons less to periodically clean or replace the PCV filter.
The cylinder is in the front of the bike and on a down hill the oil in the crank case could be pushing past the ring. Yes, it could be an over full situation. Only run the recomended amount of oil. You can actually rob yourself of power and do damage by over filling. I've already seen a guy blow the soft plugs right out of his Yamaha by over filling the oil. Also, be careful when changing your air filter. It can be very easy to drop dirt inside and that will definately score your cylinder walls and cause permanent smoke. It is most likely exactly what you think it is. Good Luck.
This may be coming from a factory installed oil cooler. Before you do anything, I would make the dealer aware of your situation because it could be an expensive repair and, after all, it wasn't leaking before the oil change. Thank you, Dana
Remove allen key drain bung in centre of flat sump pan to drain oil, then using oil filter removal tool unscrew plastic oil filter housing situated just forward of sump, replace filter and sealing ring/washer. Refill via filler tube 8 litres and run engine till hot. leave for approx 2 mins and check level via instrument cluster (job done and saved £200)
