1985 Honda VT 500 C Shadow wiring diagram

Anyone have a wiring diagram for a '85 VT500c? My horn and brake light do not work (tail light does) and turn signals don't blink...........but cycle runs and everything else electrical does w Neither rear signal works; front signals stay on "running" as they should be but they do not blink when the switch is thrown. If I push the switch for "right", the front right light does out and the left one gets brighter (and vise versa if I switch it to "Left"). Tail light stays lit all the time (as it should) but when I hit the brake it doesn't get brighter. Little license plate bulbs lights and do the internal speedo and Tach lights....but the turn signal arrows on the "dashboard" don't ever light. The "oil", "tail light" and "neutral" lights all work on the dash. The engine runs fine and I have no problem riding it around the block. The headlight also works hi and low. Kill switch works and ignition.........What is happening?

sounds like a poor ground issue, pull out the headlight and check all connections in there, your turn signals are on seperate feeds than the lights but they will probably share the same ground/earth in the headlight

SOURCE: '86 Shadow right front turn signal doesn't work

you may want to trace your wires to that light and check to make sure that your ground wire for that side is clean and tight that may take care of your problem all together

Have you checked that its the right wattage for your bike .One way to test you bulb is to attack to the battery and see if the bulb gets any brighter .if it does then you may have a slight earthing problem .check to see if none of the wires have been trapped or are touching the frame anywhere ,

I do not think that there is any damage but I suspect loose ground wire or connections somewhere which could have happened by accident when the work was done on the bike. I suggest to trace the wiring harness from the gauge first. Ground wires are connected to the bikes frame. Check also the fuses just in case there was a short.

The turn signals and brake lights use the same circuit and filament in the bulbs. The tail lights are on the other circuit which comes from the headlight switch.
Do you have power on the tail light fuse ?

85 corvette tail lights don't work

Well its an 85 to begin with . Lot s of these vehicles are kept in garages most of the time but still rust never sleeps . You say that the brake and blinkers work thats a good sign . What you need to out is witch lights control the running lights .I mean are they a seperate light or work in conjuntion with the blinkers .In witch case a bad connection at the bulb or a burned out bulb could cause this . But hte most likely cause is a broken ground wire to the lights or a bad ground witch would go to the frame . Try looking under it and pull on ground wires and see if it starts to work they would be black wires and go to the frame or body And you will have to remove the screws that hold the lens in and the assmbely houseing to get a good look at it . Its a bad ground or bad light bulb
