I own an Andretti M50 and I had 2 different gas leak problems, and neither was a stuck float.
- the gas filter that comes with the bike is a 2-piece screw together unit and the gasket between the 2 pieces leaks gas down onto the cylinder!
I replaced with a $3 one piece from Pep Boys.
- the second leak the gas just poured onto the ground. It was caused by poor design and tight tolerances where the fuel line attaches to the carb. The fuel line would get guillitoned every time you hit a bump by the engine swinging the carb tight against the frame. I rotated the carb in its manifold away from the frame. (you have to cut the nubs off the carb manifold to rotate it).

SOURCE: Scooter will not start

I had the same problem. the drain hose on the carb is supposed to have a little valve in it. it is meant to drain your carb when you winterize, HOWEVER, they fall off and fuel runs out. Screw a small bolt into the end of the hose and bingo- it runs.

Your Float bowl is stuck. Sometimes it gets a bi of dirt in it and keeps it from seating to turn off the fuel. You need to remove the bottom of the float bowl. This is easiest done by removeing the carb from the bike because you have 4 screws to undo on the float bowl. Really is pretty easy to do.

tap on the float bowl with the handle of a screwdriver, there is probably just something small making the float stick a little and always always always turn your fuel valve off when the bike is parked.

If the carb is leaking fuel and the leak is not at the hose fitting,

  • either the float needle is missing
  • the needle is being held open by trash
  • The float level is set wrong
  • The float is bad and is filled with fuel
  • The last two are the most likely since you have cleaned the carb well. Be sure the float is free on the hinge pin.

Kawasaki Kaze ZX130 - do any body have a workshop manual to this bike?

overflowing while you have it parked? I have a 1981 Kawa CSR 250 and it leaks gas when it is on the kickstand because it leans too far over... I always shut-off the gas when parking and put it up on the stand when I won't be riding it for awhile

How do I stop my rear brakes from squeezing? I've watched the video and adjusted them to no avail. When I ride and let off the gas it's like something is holding the scooter back.

Most likely there is something sticking. You seem to be wanting to work on the manual.. You are on a car site. Not mopeds. I can and do fix them. But you wouldn't pay me the diagnoses to fix yours. Most people don't.

Yamaha vino 125 scooter leaks gas when i try to start it

carb will need cleaning as it sounds like you've got a stuck float only leaks when you try to start it as the fuel tap only flows when the engine is turning over.
When leaving a bike stood for a while with an empty tank you should put an oily rag into it to prevent rusting...although the correct method is to fill the tank right to the top and add fuel stabiliser.

Gas leak

check the needle and seat for dirt if carby as leaning the bike over may be just pressure from the float to stop the leak

My transmission on my 2001 flhrci suddenly started leaking. don't notice leakage when bike is upright

Clean all oil from the bike exterior. Leave it sitting in an upright position for a period of time. This may require a bike lift or other such device. Then look for leak source. Make sure oil level is not too high. When changing oil it often gets on the cross member and may leak when on the jiffy satnd for a while until it is all gone from this area. Make sure to always use thread sealant and a good o-ring on the drain plug.
