SOURCE: what is the air fuel mixture srew setting for a

Generally there is no specific setting, however nearly all carby's default setting is one and a half turns out. Whatever "air" you are running the bike in will determine optimum setting for this. Altitude, humidity, fuel type, sparkplug range all play a small part in this. Trial and incremental settings is the only way without diagnostic bench testing equipment. Cheers.

When opening the throttle fully it splutters.this is not a 2000 its a 1990.

you either got too much fuel or too less fuel being pulled in the engine on carb there is 2 screws you need to find the mixture screw and screw it in if it runs worse screw it out 2/12 turns this picture will show you it f1a20cb.jpg

Carb settings

Hi Stephen,
Its simple , just remove the air filter clean it and check the spark plug and reset it to its right specs the gap.
Locate the air-mixture screw on the carb and warmup thebike's engine.
Turn the air-mixture screw in tothe last , but very slowly as to not damage it as its very sharp at the end of it, at this point increase the idling a little thn turn the air-mixture screw outwards 1 and a half turns and you will notice the difference in the engine , it may rev a little higher and be stable , here you will have to reduce the idling speed and again try to readjust the air-mixture screw outwards a little or inwards alittle depends how the engine responds.
Hope this will help!
