Question about 2003 Harley Davidson FXDL Dyna Low Rider
Do i need to completely remove the battery to use a battery tender on this bike?
No, but keep in mind that the Battery Tender will not charge a low battery. They will only maintain a fully charged battery.

Unfortunately, bike batteries seem to **** out from one season to the next due to material build-up (from vibration) in the bottom of the battery case which causes the cells to discharge even when recharged through the storage period. The meter on your charger (unplugged) is reading battery voltage, but if you turn on the headlight, the voltage would show very low. Try charging the battery at 2 to 4 amps rate overnight (about 6 hours) and see if the battery recovers. If it fails rapidly, get a new battery. Hope this helps!

You have a voltage drain on your bike while the key is off that is why the tender wont full charge the battery. If you have any electrical accessories such as an alarm try disconnecting them they may be draining your battery while sitting. If no accessories then you have a short somewhere in the harness causing the drain.
