I can't find anything in the book that says the headlights run through the ecu,,, it does run through the relay box located near your battery, They made 5 different ecu's, (just in case) all have been know to go bad, after market units are available. Back to the headlights, both, head lights and turn signal connections have been know to melt, clean your connections and grease with dielectric grease. Clean out the white film inside headlight with mild degreaser. Your electrical system is taxed to start with, do not add anything to your bike that uses electricity, lights, boom boxes, gps, fuzzbusters, anything. If you ride in the rain, your junction box can have corroded wire ends, you have to pull it apart to inspect it. Your bike is a CAN , computer aided network, I think, I know it came out in 2003, it has little wires performing multiple duties, shaved pounds off the weight of the harness. There are many more things that go wrong, and a lot of aftermarket suppliers out there, I have a list here if you need a computer, headlight, regulator, rectifier, etc. hope this helps.

Are you just checking the marks or did you change the belts??? Your 749 falls into a different category than most desmoquatros, It is in the 998, 999 family. And, It is a minor nightmare to pull the belts off without setting up the marks before the belts come off. Your cams will be at 12 o-clock, the marks straight up, the belts are clearly marked, or should be, the number of teeth in between the cams can be counted, if all 3 marks line up, you know it is aligned right. That is the crankcase and the 2 cams. I have pages of info on this if you want to read it. You will have to let me know. Hope this helps. 2002 S4,,, 99 750 monster
