Try to start with bike in gear and clutch disengaged starter does not engage , nothing happens no sound nothing, but put it in nuturel, start right up but if you disengage clutch and put into gear dies immediately.
The Clutch on some bikes will disengage the starter motor. Yamaha will not allow you to engage gear when the side stand is down. Hope this gives you some idea
Make sure ya kick stand is up b4 putting it into gear
It may be your clutch not disengaged I hade the same problem with dirt bike it would start then die when put in gear with the clutch pulled in the clutch plates and friction plates were stuck together and it would want to drive foward I took clutch cover off and seperated plates it worked for another sommer then I had to get new ones
You may have a faulty clutch lever safty switch,
