I recently installed a GI-Pro Gear indicator on my 07 R6, and whilst searching for wires under the fuel tank i unplugged and forgot to plug back in a 4-6 wire plug. Rode the bike for about 10 minutes then it bogged down and stalled with error 40. I lifted the tank, and replugged in the plug, and the bike still shows error code 40 and turns over but won't start. I have since taken off the tapped wires for the gear indicator so the bike is back as it was. Bike still won't start! I need help? Can i clear this code myself somehow?
You can disconnect the battery to clear the codes. If I remember correctly the code 40 is indicating an open injector circuit. You might want to check that area as well as the service manual for more detail
hey mate, yeah well i got it fixed, i had already tried disconnecting the battery but that didn't clear the code. I ended up downloading a service manual, and as per that, i had to enter diagnostic mode, run diag test no.40-43 (operational check of injectors to make sure they're working), then run diag test no. 63 which reinstates the normal operation and clears the fault. Apparently only fault code 40 and 24 require you to run test 63 afterwards. So if/when anyone else gets this fault, this is what you need to do, obviously after you've fixed the problem.
Cheers guys. Service manual is now a pdf on my phone. Wouldn't go anywhere without it ;)
