Replace the brake lines !
Yamaha service says lines should be replaced after 4 years, and this is one of the reasons why.
As the inner material of the line deteriorates with age, it is possible for tiny pieces to break away and get lodged in the master cylinders return orifice. This could allow fluid to enter the line to squeeze the brake pads, but block the return, effectively locking up the pads.

No you should have from time to time safety checked your motorcycle, brakes are a normal wear part and should have been replaced before the friction material had completely worn off.

Not an unusual problem, no recalls. Replace pads (and rotor, if necessary), but after brakes are bled, loosen the bolt between the rear caliper arm and the swing arm, have someone apply and hold rear brake, tighten bolt. The arm, which holds the caliper in line with the rotor, occasionally loosens and allows misalignment. Checking pad thickness on both sides of the disk regularly will reveal caliper problems if wear is not evenly distributed.

sounds like the brake cylinder needs servicing drain out the brake fluid and remove it from your bike take out the pads and spray some wd40 over the inside then replace the pads if they are worn and reassemble replace the brake fluid that should cure your problem

hope this helps

How do I blled my hydrolic clutch on a 2006 yamaha Royal Star Tour Deluxe?

Bleeding the clutch hydraulics will not solve a slipping clutch. You probably need to change the fiber plates in the clutch.

What is the procedure for changing the front and rear brake pads on a 2005 Yamaha Royal Star Tour Deluxe

Changing (disc) brake pads on metric MCs is pretty simple. I would advise you to buy a shop manuel for your particular bike. The investment in a shop Manuel will probably save you lots of $$$. You'll find there's a whole lot of stuff you can do your self. Things are explained very clear and simple.

Brakes wont release

Was the leading input shaft adjusted correctly? Usually they come with a new one and has to be matched in length to your old one. If the old one was used I would bleed the system from the right rear, left rear, right front, & left front in that order. Always bleed from the furthest point first. Sometimes air in the lines will lock these up
