Low on the right side crankcase cover there is a sight glass. Have someone hold the bike level (not on the side stand) and check the oil level through the sight glass. If you can see oil while the bike is level, you are ok.

How do I check the coolant level in my Intruder/Volusia 2003

There is an overflow bottle on the left side down low. There is a **** in the chrome side cover that you can shine a flashlight in and see the level in the bottle. However, if you suspect that your bike is running too hot, you will have to take off the gas tank to actually check the radiator filler level.

Do I check the oil level on my Suzuki Volusia while it is on the kick stand or do I check it with the bike being held evenly level?

The bike must be level and not on the side stand. If you look closely, you should see the oil level index marks to the side of the sight glass. Just like the marks on an oil dipstick, as long as the oil level is between the marks, you're OK.

I set my 2003 suzuki intruder volusia up for a bout 5 months because of some health issues. i got it out this week and rode about ten miles and it started smoking. i stoped and noticed oil dripping from...

Check the oil level. If you are lucky there was too much oil and this may have been some blow by. More likely though, you may have blown a piston ring. If this is the case, you will have to overhaul the engine or drop in a new one. By the way, was the bike laying on the right side for any length of time?

How many quarts of oil does the Suzuki VL800 take?

Engine oil Capacity:

With filter change: 3.6 U.S Quarts (3,400 ml)
Without Filter Change: 3.2 U.S Quarts (3,000ml)

Note: This bike does not have a dipstick, but a sight-glass on the right side of the crankcase. To get an accurate estimate of the oil level, the bike must also be level and not on the side stand.

2003 suzuki VL 800 volushia

probably only need 1/2 to 3/4 litre, when you are filling the final drive through the large bolt hole, that is also the level guide, when the oil starts to dribble out the hole, the drive is full.
