You ill need to take off your left engine cover, remove the flywheel, and replace the starter gear (part#5) and three rollers (part#13). This is your one-way clutch that allows your starter motor to turn the engine over. if you have a automatic choke get it checked and make sure its working properlly, it might be staying on wich means the bik will not start or run when it warm

The brake pedal on my 1984 Honda Shadow 500VT needs to be pressed deeply to apply brake, how do I adjust it so as to take the play out of it.

Replace the rear brake pads. The thicker pad will require less pedal movement. The other option is to tighten up the rear brake actuator at the rear hub. Put it up on the center stand and adjust away until you figure it out. Make sure it is in neutral and the rear tire spins freely when the brake is not applied. Push the brake pedal to see how it all works, you'll figure it out.

1983 honda shadow vt750c. not getting spark. power to coils. plugs are good. is there a way to bypass the cdi boxes so i don't have to use them

Dis-connect the negative connection from the the top of the motor and check for corrosion. The bike with not fire if it isn't getting a good ground. I have a 1983 750 shadow would not start dumped a lot of parts into it before I found the corroded connection.

Your honda shadow 500 over heats,because the oil cant room around the engine of the bike.the problem is the worn out destroyed oil seal .Check and replace the oil seal of your bike.

1983 honda shadow vt500c bike will not crank after it has warmed up it will spinover roll it down the hill it cranks it sat for 3yrs but runs ok

you may have water in the bottom of the carbs or corrosion you need to try some starting fluid in the back of carbs when your problem is happening if it starts up you know you need to clean the carbs
