Yes, exactly that.
If you have a gap of zero, and it should be 20 then that is correct.
Example, gap shpuld be 20, actual gap is 5, shims = 45, so 45-15(is 20-5=15)=30

Yes, you have 4 valves per side, 2 are intake, 2 exhaust. On the intake, the opener is .002-.007, and the closer .006-.010 , The exhaust, opener is, .002-.009 and the closer is ,.004- .008. If you are planning on doing this yourself, you need to do your math and get the right shims, Ducati will sell you the shims you need, but there are other people out there making them. When measuring the clearance, you need to turn the engine over by hand, pull the plugs, pull the cover off the left side to get to the crank bolt, get a friend to crank the engine over while you runs shims in and out of the rockers, keep notes on your measurements.

Your valves are adjusted backwards. Most Honda's will use: IN = 0.10 mm ( 0.004 in ) and EX 0.12 mm ( 0.005 in ) A simple adjustment should take care of the problem.

are the valves adjustable some of these small engines valves are just pre set and when the seats and valve wear this causes the valve to sink further into the head closing the gap and in time stops the engine from running a quick fix is to grind the top of the valve stem slighty

Valve clearance of yamaha STX


Hi , unless your engine has a very specific numbers the "standart" valve clearance are:
inlet = 0,08 mm (8/100 of a milimiter)
exaust :0,10mm (1/10 of a milimiter)
With this gaps your engine will work smoothly and no risk of a burned valve

Valve adjustment is not a simple task, the valve clearances will need "shimming" these are thin pieces of metal to take up the gap or slack between valve and rocker arm. You will need service manual and some feeler gauges, and purchase a set of shims
