Dear Sir / Madam
I have just purchased a 2004
Yamaha WR450F and it has only done 1 700 km (aprox 1000 miles) . It will
not start using the electric starter , it will only start using the kick
starter .
As I have only ridden it for 5 km (3 miles) . I have discovered the
carbie & fuel tank was dirty as it had only ever been used very
sporadically by the previous owner . I was told that the young kid who
original purchased it had electric starter problem .
I have replace the original battery (Yuasa brand) with a MotoBatt
(Absorbed Glass Matt type) and then with a brand new Yuasa (valve
regulated led acid type) . But still the electric starter will not crank
the engine over very fast at all .
Can you help me . I have never had a very good opinion of the WR
Yamaha's as I have had very good reliability from 2 x DRZ Suzuki's .
Maybe the started is bad, try having it tested, and also, check all wiring connections for the starter, see if anything is grounding out, or has a dirty connection, as that will cause you to lose electricity
