The 86 has more memory. It also has some advanced calculus capabilities the 83 doesn't. However you're much more likely to see examples for the 83 in textbooks and other references.

The standalone version of the OS for the TI84Plus/TI84Plus SE are not for TI-Nspire with TI84 keyboard. The 94 Plus part of the TI-Nspire is updated when you update the OS of the TI-Nspire. The version numbers are different.
To update you TI84 portion of the TI-Nspire, update the OS for the TI-Nspire. Thy are now at Version 3.2.3.1233

I bought it at a rummage sale and what a manual for it where can i get one? And is different from the TI 30X 11?

You can download the TI-30Xa guidebook from the manufacturer's web site at
http://education.ti.com/calculators/downloads/US/Guidebooks/Detail?id=6132

The TI-30Xa replaced the TI-30X within a year. The only enhancement was the added Constant key.

The TI-30XII, introduced about five years later, is a significantly different calculator, incorporating, among other things, a two-line display.

How do i do difference quotient on my ti 89?

The function avgRC( calculates forward-difference quotients and the nDeriv( calculates central-difference quotients. Take your pick. You can also use the d( differentiate function.
You can also create a small program or function that gets a function as argument, along with the variable and the step and returns one of the difference quotients. (central, forward, or backward).

How to enter a different log base (other than base e or base 10) into the Texas Instrument TI-80 silver

The TI-83 doesn't have such a function built-in. Use the relationship logb(x) = log(x)/log(b) = ln(x)/ln(b).

Different answer two different calculators ti-81 and ti89

I had the same problem when I got my first 89, even though it's really a feature and not a problem.

Press the diamond key then enter to get your answer, and it will give you the decimal answer instead of the exact answer like you have been getting. Hope this helps...

Ti85

kinda. The TI-85 programs differently, lacks a table feature, is not upgradable, has redefinable keys, has a larger screen, is smaller, energy efficient, TI-86 semi-compatible, and is older.
The TI-84+ has archive memory, flash-upgradable, FSTN (clearer) screen, 16*8 screen, USB On-The-Go compliant, almost a centimeter longer, assembly language support, and a tad bit faster.

TI-82: $89
TI-83 Plus: $79-99
Free TI-85: $0
TI-84 plus: $119.99
TI-84+SE: $129-139
TI-89 Titanium: $149
