Will not run without choke 1997 Suzuki GSF 1200 Bandit S

Hello, bike not running off of choke is an indication that the pilot circuit in the carbs is plugged.. the choke is a enriching circuit hence why it runs only with the choke on. When turned off the bike starves for fuel and dies. My guess is the bike has sat for longer than 4 months and the pilot jets are plugged from varnish... they will need to be removed and properly cleaned.

No spark 2005 Suzuki GSF 1200 Bandit S

I would definitely start with connections. It could be loose connections. Is your battery fully charged? Before you spring for the coils make sure you have good voltage.

Gsf1200k6 bike stored for 3 months now has a misfire also making strange clunk noise every now and then at idle bike has traveled 30,000km

I have just rebuilt the carbs on my buddy's Bandit 1200 that had a similar problem. After doing the initial checks to confirm it was not plugs, wires or coils and doing a compression test it came down to the carbs. After removing them and taking the float bowls off I found lots of small rubber pieces in the bowls. This could only have come from the rubber fuel hose, from tank to carbs, as there is a filter in the fuel valve in the tank and that was clear. The small rubber pieces had blocked off some of the jets. Apparently Suzuki recommends replacing that hose every two years. I suspect alcohol in the fuel was eating the inside of the hose. i am not saying that is the same problem you have but something to keep in mind. If it had not been stored with fuel stabilizer in the tank I would drain the fuel and add fresh gas and then if the problem persists do the basic tests first before going further.

I am not particularly familiar with any "91 Bandit 400,"but I can figure out something that simple, sight unseen! Does the bike have ignition points and an ignition coil, or do you know? Secondly, does the headlight automatically come on when you crank it? With correct answers, we can get to the bottom of this issue quickly!

Bandit has trouble starting after bike has had a run new battery fitted could it be the starter

sounds like your battery is not charging wich leads to your alternator/stator plate simple test is fully charge the battery start your bike then with a multi-meter check the voltage accross the + and - terminals if it is getting current it should read about 14,2 volts if your getting just 12 volts then thats your problem...check all terminals connecting stator ie wd 40 them and reconnect them and test again if all else works then a replacement stator :)

How much fork oil do I put in

Dave, I usually measure the amount of fork oil that drains out of each fork and replace with that same amount. In my experience this is not necessarily a critical spec. All bikes are different, however. Many owners and mechanics will experiment with differing amounts and weights of oil. You may consult your dealership and try to get within a couple ounces of spec.
