Tip & How-To about Motorcycles

Bad gas and motorcycles

As you all have noticed lately the gas we are getting with the additives and ethonal and no telling what is in it. the gas is playing havic of motorcycles with the clogged carburators, stuck fuel injectors, locked up fuel pumps, sticking valves so on and so forth.
my tip for all motorcycle riders is that most motorcycles benifit from running hi-test fuel in them. but all fuel is not the same and if you find your bike not running so good on the fuel you are using, change it! go to another station buy gas from different staions untill you find one that your bike runs good on. never park your bike with a empty tank! the more air in your tank the faster the fuel will go bad on you, so always store your bike with a full tank of gas and you will have a better chance of the gas not going bad on you. when you find your self out on the road with no gas staions to chouse from and have to get gas, be aware if you have to get gas from the little hole in the wall mom and pop gas staion in the middle of nowhere DO NOT BUY HI-TEST!! these stations do not sell a lot of hi-test and the fuel in there tanks could be 6 months old or more just waiting for you to pump it on your tank and do damage to your fuel system so buy just enough regular to get you back to a well traveled station that you can fill you tank with good fresh hi-test fuel.

Can i use 10% ethonal gas in my 1986 honda spree

Ethonal additive in fuel had a bad affect on early rubber hoses and caused leaking from hoses that resulted in motor fires . The problem was rectified on later model cars that were designed to use an ethonal mix. Besides that I suspect that in an effort to use cheaper fuel you will be using more fuel in this car as it is not set for ethonal fuel

94 s10 22 spark plugs are white and 2 are black the white ones burnt off Not over heating but when replaced it now sputters and backfires replaced all the sensors o2 and what not any ideas

I would clean out the throttle body , intake manifold and mass air flow sensor . Then get a ethonal gas treatment and put into your gas tank. Lucas is the brand I use . Being a 94 it is not designed to run this ethonal gas of today and will gum up the inside of your motor

can I use leaded gas or only unleaded

check with your owners manual. But as a former lawn professional, I only used Premium fuel in my Scag zero mowers. You should however use ethonal free fuel if you don't run at least a tank a month through it or you can buy Marvel Mystery Oil as a fuel additive to help keep your motor clean and running smooth. I use Marvel Mystery Oil in the boat, mowers, and 4 wheelers. Works great. Ethonal free gas is hard to track down so this is a great alternative.
