Fuel filter replacement
Find the fuel line off the petcock and follow it to the fuel pump. The filter is between the fuel pump and petcock under the fuel tank

Why does it run about a quarter mile then starts missing and quits?
Fuel starvation? Try a ride with the fuel filler cap open (be careful though). If still the same then at least you know the cap vent is working. Fuel filter blocked. Fuel line kinked (usually after a tank removal and re-fit). Fuel tap problem. Remember that some fuel may be getting through, enough to start and idle but maybe not enough for the demands of riding.

2007 Royal Star Tour Delux with 15,000 miles. Rear brakes scored
Not an unusual problem, no recalls. Replace pads (and rotor, if necessary), but after brakes are bled, loosen the bolt between the rear caliper arm and the swing arm, have someone apply and hold rear brake, tighten bolt. The arm, which holds the caliper in line with the rotor, occasionally loosens and allows misalignment. Checking pad thickness on both sides of the disk regularly will reveal caliper problems if wear is not evenly distributed.

Is it hard to take
Raise the back of the bike high enough that you can drop the wheel out the bottom other wise you may have to take off a saddlebag , loosen the rear axle nut, take out the bolt, knock out the spacer , lift the caliper assembly out of the way and hang it by a wire, grab the wheel, and slide it sideways away from the final drive. The wheel should slide right off the spline of the final drive and roll out the back under the fender. If the wheel wont slide past the final drive let the air out of the tire. Be sure to coat the spline of the final drive with moly60 paste from your local Honda dealer when reassembling.

How to adjust the hydraulic clutch
There is no adjustment to the hydraulic clutch. Often however the brass bushing in the handle wears out and will need to be replaced. Also, the system should be flushed and bled periodically.

When i start my 2005 royal star venture it
stuck floats!...purchase a can of Sea Foam from any Autostore pour in about a third of a can per every 2 gals of fuel.. and then you must ride it for a least 30 miles to let it work through the fuel system, also obviously check the main fuel line hose feed for secure connections to the carbs..i had a bad fuel leak once and it was pouring out fast, it ended up being a bad rubber gasket going one side of the fuel tee connection.

Location of oil dipstick...
There is no dipstick on a Royal Star. To check the oil level, look for a glass window on the right side of the crankcase marked for high (max) and low (min) levels. Get on hands and knees and look under the front crankcase cover directly beside the right operator's footrest; you'll probably need a flashlight to read it.

This past riding season I began to notice a few
First I must state I'm not familiar with your particular model but AM familiar with rear shocks.(have re-built hundreds)
First thin to check is that if it is re-buildable!
The easiest way to tell this is to see your dealer and ask to see the parts fisch for the rear shock. If it displays a seal assembly then it is re-buildable.
Also you could try a local shock repairer/suspension tuner, they should Know.
Here in Australia a shock re-build costs about $300-$350 if the shock shaft hasn't got wear damage to the chrome.(They can be re-chromed)
If the shaft is worn then its not much different to the price of a new one I'm afraid.
As the shock is charged with nitrogen gas to high pressure I would NOT RECOMMEND you to try rebuild it yourself !!!!
But removing it yourself, while a little tricky sometimes, can save some$
Hope this helps a little
P.S. To find a shock repairer in your area try the classified section at the back of your favorite road bike magazine!!!

2007 Yamaha Royal Star Venture Drive Shaft (?) Howl
This is a safety issue. Ever flew over the handlebars at 60 miles per hour because the back wheel locked up? It sounds like a serious lack of lubrication. Take the wheel assembly apart and see what is going on. If in doubt, have the dealer look at it. Any product recalls on your bike? Check it out.
Please rate this answer. Thanks jerboe!
