When i turn the gas
The float is stuck open by some trash at the float needle OR the float is bad and literally does not float any more. Remove the float bowl and clean the carb using spray carb cleaner. Turn the gas on and it should start to flow. Now gently lift the float upward and the gas should stop flowing. Turn off the gas and put the float bowl back in place. Below is a generic carb diagram. Please take a moment and rate my answer.
Bike set for a year
Time to clean the carburetors . The alcohol laced fuel that the government dictates is full employement for mechanics. This alcohol absorbs water and mixes with the gunk in your tank and then gets to your carburetors where the alcohol evaporates and leaves gunk in the orifices. This blocks fuel flow. I have put off cleaning mine for six months but must get to it.
Hi,
I have a yamaha 1100
Yamaha does use a starter clutch, and it is a bit of a job to access and repair. That does not REQUIRE a qualified mechanic but it would depend on your level of confidence with the job. If you do not feel up to it then take it to a shop. Most Yamaha's with starter problems do kind of come to a jolting stop mid turn but I can't say it is a metallic sound. Those I have messed with, will turn, stop grind, stop, turn stop. Hope this helps.
B.garcia.1@hi there i tried to
Better clean up the base of the BULB, that fast blinking means ground line is not supplying.
Check also the specs of the BULB, it might have different wattage w/ the original!
Bike had been sittting for
Berrymans B-12, should start running smoother within 2 tanks. Only use about half can per tank. Do Not ride with choke engaged.
MY YAMAHA 1100 VSTAR CUSTOM,WILL
The starter itself is defective - most likely the brushes on the motor are shot.
You must take the starter off the bike, disassemble it completely, check it thoroughly - be especially attentive at the contacts of the motor and the solenoid, replace everything that doesn't look perfect and put it back together.
I am replacing the handlebars
You can try finger nail polish remover. The acetone should dissolve the adhesive. Other than that you may be faced with cutting it off and jsut replacing with different grips on the new assembly.
I pulled off my gas
The only solution i can offer, is you have mixed up some hoses,or wiring. Check it over again, remove the fuel hose and make sure fuel comes out.
You dont say what kind of Yamaha you have, so without knowing that, i cant look for any further information for you.
I just had valves adjusted
No, it's not. Try using a thicker oil - 20/50 - and if the noise is still there then you have some worn out parts. Take the camshaft cover off and check every single valve and lifter for play.
Yamaha 2007 Waverunner VX110:
Be sure you are using fresh/clean fuel, replace the air and fuel filter, I use a small strap type filter wrench but there are many different versions such as the end cap type that is shaped like a large flat pan socket looking wrench that attaches to your 3/8"drive ratchet, here is a tip, once you get the filter loose put a plastis bag over it and a rag in the bilge to absorb all the oil drippings, also before installing the new oil filter, wipe the top gasket with a small amount of fresh oil, add a small amount of oil in the filter for a safety prime if you feel cofortable doing so, then spin the filter on and tighten real tight by hand, try to get the orange filter with the black gripper on the end for ease of tightening and loosening, I believe Fram is the company but they may not make a filter for the Yamaha, so if not use those gloves with the little rubber grippers on the fingers to help tighten it and loosen it when you change it again.
Happy Boating!!

Backfires when riding
Mine did that when either it was rich, or you have a leak somewhere in the exhaust pipe so that air enters it and the excess fuel ignites there !
Electrical system goes dead when
Below are most probable causes.
1. Bad connection to the battery. Solution is to disconnect battery and clean the connections, and then reconnect and tighten securely.
2. Battery is shorted internally. Lead Acid batteries have a life of about 3 years. A dead battery had sufficient power to power lights, but will not enough to turn the engine over. A good battery, even with a direct short will not drop below 10 volts. Solution is to replace the battery
