check pawl spring on kickstart lever.

if the bike push starts, i assume it runs good,
if the kick does not turn motor over, there is a spring clip that engages the kick gear that may be broken or misplaced
if the kick start turns the motor over, you have to use decomp to get just past TDC then kick

possible bent shift fork,
if it only happens occasionally, just didnt go into gear completely

That does not seem to be enough numbers to be a VIN, nor does it look like a Yamaha VIN to me - at least not a post-1980's number.

The VIN can be found stamped into the steering head. Take a look at this site: http://www.motoverse.com/tools/vin/yamaha.asp

culd be sucking air in the intake boot, or the throttle cable is tight or has a fray.

Carburettor idling jet needs cleaning!

Drill out the heads (Just enough untill the head almost falls off) , then drive the center through with a punch.

sounds like your getting back flow thru the lines

Kick it on the otherside,,,,,, Perhaps your starter motor brushes got jammed, well off to a repair shop or if daring take that motor apart.

your on the right track. start at the button and work down the wires till you find your short.

Gap or replace the spark plug. Two cycle engines eat plugs. If that does not fix it replace the spark plug wire.

What did Yamaha tell you? I think 10 is too light. Call your Yamaha shop for the proper recommendation.

Try hitting it in a clockwise motion .The bearing are very tight ,they have to be ,so that the roller work properly another trick is to run boiling water over the outside of the head stock .This will exspand the outer head stock and give you a better chance of freeing the inner bearing .

Could be a jetting problem ,check your idle jet may be blocked .

there is a seal in the carb if this runs dry or not riddin for a bit it will dry up and crack then leak easy fix about $2 should do it

take a note of the frame number to your local yamaha dealer...they should beable to tell you from this what year it is

you got it wrong then the velve timeing is out and if you kick it over to hard your going to bend the velves

hi,because the light comes on,it doesnt necessarily mean the battery is charged,the neutral light draws very little and will come on at about 3 volts you need at least 12.5 ,so check the voltage across the battery and charge if needed,hope this helps..cheers

is this while its runnig or not, sometimes the cluctch wont engage while the bike is not runnig, but will engage when running. its common. if not they may just be stuck. did you drain the oil and have the plates exsposed to elements while the engine was out of the frame. open the clutch plate cover, check that they look fine. other than that if the clutch is hydrolic check for air in the system. and also the fluid level. good look.
