2002 Yamaha FJR 1300 - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
After fitting new battery on my fjr 1300 Drove a
Have your charging system looked at, first do a simple multimeter test, get a multimeter, switch it on to Volts, start bike and see what it reads, put multimeter prongs directly on battery, very simple, if its below 12V you have a charging problem. If your battery is new and your charging system is faulty the bike will start and go, but when you switch it off the battery will be dead because it has not been charging. When you let a dead battery sit for a while it will charge itself a little, enough to start the bike up. Have you ever had a flat torch or mobile phone, it will die when battery is flat but when you try and switch them on again after a little while, they will work a little and die again, same with bikes, cars etc. All the best, Forever Two Wheels :)
Adjusting clutch lever play yamaha fjr1300
First of all... the FJR has a hydraulic clutch so there is no cable to adjust. Secondly don't listen to any of these people telling you to tear into the case. The FJR has an adjustable clutch lever. Setting 5 is closest to the grip (less throw) setting 1 is furthest away (more throw). See where yours is set and adjust accordingly
Why doesn't it crank or start?
Your kick-stand switch is stuck in the off mode. Try cleaning it because they get real dirty from the chain, road grime, and rain.
How do I store my Yamaha fjr 1300 for the winter
grease any moving part, drain fuel, pull clutch lever in and keep pulled in with a rubber band, spray a small amount wd40 into carb, as fuel dries it blocks jets ,cover with a old blanket not plastic unless stored outside then use bike cover (oxford).
5JW-070 is this a paint code FJR1300 2001
No, that's the model type code (5JWA) and the country (070 for England). The paint code is the single letter next to the black dot below that number.
A for "Deep Purplish Blue Metallic C"
B for "Dull Red Metallic D"
C for "Silver Metallic 1"
Engine management light came on
I have several Yamaha bikes and sometimes when the bike gets too hot it will let you know in this fashion. Also maybe it has hit the time for servicing. Regardless I would keep riding until light stays on solid then troubleshot it.
We left the keys on
First you need to find out if the battery has any life in it at all. Leaving the key turned on can discharge the battery to a state beyond repaire, try charging it on a low charge of the bike for a period of time, if the battery becomes hot you will have to replace it,check the main fuse has not blown, it is located at the starter solenoide under a plastic cover
Clutch lever feels like its
I will bet your bike has a hydraulic clutch and there is air in the hydraulic line. Bleed the air the same way as bleeding hydraulic brakes. If you bike has a master cylinder AND a slave cylinder, bleed the master cylinder first.
Bike is a 2006.
sounds like the needle in the carb is getting stuck try cleaning the carb and checking the spark plugs wont hurt
hope this helps

Chances are there is a water build up in the carb float bowls. The water comes from condensation in the gas tank. Try draining the carbs. Another possibility is carburetor main jets partially plugged up. You must clean the carbs if plugged jets are found to be the problem. Please rate my answer. Thanks.

will it turn over,if yes add fuel sta-bil you can get this at any auto part store. The gas you buy now days only has a shelf life of 3 weeks,so make sure you add to fuel if your bike will be sitting for more than that.
Where is my oil filter
Its a cartridge type on the left side of the engine. You will need to undo the bolt in the middle of the housing. put a drain tray underneath. you need to manouver it out past the wiring and vent hose. make sure you dont lose the flat washer that sticks to the filter. Reasemble with a new oil filter cartridge and o ring. The torque to do it up to is on the housing. Make sure the wiring or hose doesnt get stuck under it when doing it up bor it will leak. How do I drain the gas tank on a 1991 yamaha
When you turn it to on, it will automatically start to drain due to gravity. Remove the fuel hose to your carbs and stick it into a can and remove the gas cap and it will drain on it's own. You may not get every last drop, but most of it will come out.
