We left the keys on
First you need to find out if the battery has any life in it at all. Leaving the key turned on can discharge the battery to a state beyond repaire, try charging it on a low charge of the bike for a period of time, if the battery becomes hot you will have to replace it,check the main fuse has not blown, it is located at the starter solenoide under a plastic cover

I will bet your bike has a hydraulic clutch and there is air in the hydraulic line. Bleed the air the same way as bleeding hydraulic brakes. If you bike has a master cylinder AND a slave cylinder, bleed the master cylinder first.
Bike is a 2006.
sounds like the needle in the carb is getting stuck try cleaning the carb and checking the spark plugs wont hurt
hope this helps

Canadian bike 1991 Yamaha fj1200,50,000kms.
Chances are there is a water build up in the carb float bowls. The water comes from condensation in the gas tank. Try draining the carbs. Another possibility is carburetor main jets partially plugged up. You must clean the carbs if plugged jets are found to be the problem. Please rate my answer. Thanks.

will it turn over,if yes add fuel sta-bil you can get this at any auto part store. The gas you buy now days only has a shelf life of 3 weeks,so make sure you add to fuel if your bike will be sitting for more than that.
Where is my oil filter
Its a cartridge type on the left side of the engine. You will need to undo the bolt in the middle of the housing. put a drain tray underneath. you need to manouver it out past the wiring and vent hose. make sure you dont lose the flat washer that sticks to the filter. Reasemble with a new oil filter cartridge and o ring. The torque to do it up to is on the housing. Make sure the wiring or hose doesnt get stuck under it when doing it up bor it will leak. If the head light is functioning properly then check the head light switch.it may not be getting detected.Remove the battery wait for few minutes then reconnect the battery again and check. If still the same problem then check by removing and reconnecting headlight switch from dash.If still the same problem then check if any other light not turning ON.the tail light the side blinkers. If any other light not working. Also if the headlight bulb element is getting overheated then this may be the indication that headlight bulbs will required to be replaced very soon.

How do I drain the gas tank on a 1991 yamaha
When you turn it to on, it will automatically start to drain due to gravity. Remove the fuel hose to your carbs and stick it into a can and remove the gas cap and it will drain on it's own. You may not get every last drop, but most of it will come out.
I want to hook up
here is what I have done on every bike I have ever owned, access the battery and install a connector for the battery charger directly to the battery, this is the best way, run the cable out (use lamp cord from the hardware store) and a connector kit from the hardware store or Radio Shack, run that out from the battery to to an area you can hook up your charger to easily, then plug the bike in anytime you are not riding it in less than a minute, keeping the battery on a maintenance, also never use a charger with more than 1 ampere output, self adjusting chargers are the bet, they shut off when the battery reaches full charge, this means the battery never looses any electrolyte and it makes the battery last up to 3 times as long. YOU CAN BUY A BUY A BATTERY MAINTAINER/FLOAT CHARGER FOR LESS THAN $15 FROM HARBOR FREIGHT TOOLS ON THE WEB, HERE IS A LINK TO THE WEB SITE:

My guage runs half way
it should sit around half, may get to 3\4 on a hot day riding hard, but should not get to light on stage.
Check the fan comes on when it gets hot
Check cap or renew
Check thermostat or renew
Change coolant\flush radiator
Check for leaks
pressure test coolant system
it may even be a problem with the sender for the temp gauge, if it doesnt seem hot and the fan doesnt start
Temp guage runs half way
Hi,
Absolutely ok. If it falls something beyond 1/5 then its a problem and might want to check the temp sesnor which is tending to get old.
Let us know if you want something else please accept the solution.

I need to know if a clutch from a 1980's 1300
Can't tell you for sure but look on HLSM.com(the marina one) and there are 3-4 sites under this hlsm site once your at it that let you look up with actual dealer microfiche diagrams that you could see if both use the same amount of steel/fiber plates or if the part # crosses over to each,it still could be applicable as long as the outer spokes on the fiber plates were'nt smaller in width to the cut outs on the outside diameter of aluminum clutch basket that they go into, because if they are these smaller tabbed plates would "hammer back and fourth on or in the basket" every time you gas on it or let off (when you look at it form the side when you have the center hub that the spring loaded screws in a circle hold down, the skinnyer tabs on the plate would be hitting left to right on the wider aluminum outer basket which WILL cut wavy grooves and cause the aluminum that is hammered off when this happens to go thru the oil pump "and you know that some of this gritt will multiply and cause alot more abrasive gritt" which kills a motor as it passes thru everything in there thats real expensive and deadly to the life of the engine.hlsm.com will let you see what you need, the first subsite under,i think it is POWER SPORTS is easy:just click Yam the STREET,then Year, etc.simple and good to use,and you can print only if you go top left of your screen to FILE then hit print, the site wont let you print a diagram if you try to just right click your mouse to print so you have it next to you when working on the bike.good luck, wallace
