Battery voltage drop
Sounds like the starter motor itself. Does the engine turn at all when you try to crank it?
2002 r1 twice to start
you need to remove the starter motor and replace the brushes and give a good clean out ! P...
Alternator not charging battery
ok first check the negative terminal and ensure you have a proper ground. then you have to check the stator and regulator / rectifier, you can check the stator which rarely goes bad by using a multi-meter on AC it should give you a voltage reading when cranking the bike over be careful you could get shocked now with the bike off check the regulator / rectifier by using the diode setting you can check to see if your rectifier is working use the leads and check the wires that come from the stator and the other lead on the wire that goes to the starter you will get voltage one way and the other you shouldn't so you will have to switch the leads. so if you get voltage both ways the regulator is bad or if you don't get voltage at al it is bad.

Why am I leaking gas from somewhere under my tank?
Well...A fuel line may have split due to heat, Or a bad clamp on the filter or fuel valve, If it carbureted, then You may have a leaky fuel bowl gasket/ Stuck float/bad float/or a out of adjustment float.

I HAVE A BENT SHIFT FIRK
aluminum or pot metal both will break if u force it unless you heat it with a small plumbers torch untill it moves easily
Yamah r1 code 19
This is an extreme long shot, but do you have to "reset" the fault code? It may stay "locked up" after a fault, even though you have replaced the faulty component. Does the manual say anything along these lines?Or its just the CDI unit that's not working
My r1 2009 is getting hot when im idle or in the stop light
1. make sure that the coolant is at the correct level.2. when it is running hot the cooling fan(s) should be running or it will get hot. If the fan(s) are not running check the fan switch, fan relay, and the fan for correct operation. The fan switch should have continuity once engine is about 195+. The relay should click taken out of the system and 12 volts is applied to the smaller two relay terminal; at the same time it clicks, the larger two relay terminals should have continuity. Unplug the fan at the connector and apply 12 volts dc to fan side of the connector and the fan should turn on.
Good evening sir, I have
1998 to 2002 have problem with plug to voltage regulator/rectifier which is under seat. connectors in plug overheat and bike stops charging the battery. you will see if connectors have been hot and will need to be replaced if they have.
once replaced check bike charging with multimeter at battery, should make 13.5 - to 14.5 volts just above idle. if not will need to test stator and regulator.
Coolant leaking from R1 bottom of engine
FYI This has just happened to me.Bike has been stood for a few weeks and i started it. Noticed the temp was unusually high (105-110) so switched off, checked coolant and it was dry.I topped up and noticed the coolant leaking from what appears to be a hole in the engine sump casing.Im a fairly fast worker and i managed to remove the entire exhaust system down to the header pipes and drop the oil and remove the sump casing in around an hour. It might take longer if you don't do much mechanical stuff. (I'm just a hobbyist btw not a mechanic). It turns out that the hole in the sump casing is actually linked to a coolant overflow pipe internally. So don't worry coolant is NOT mixing with your oil (and therefore oil is NOT mixing with your coolant!)So obviously there is something more to this than meets the eye.It turns out that on all Pre2006 R1's the Water Pump is internal and if it leaks, You guessed it, It used this overflow pipe to stop the coolant mixing with your oil. This is where my mechanical knowledge ends and i will be taking my bike to a real mechanic to swap out the water pump for me.The good thing is, if you already remove your exhaust system and drop all your oil etc this will save around 1-2hours of labour at the garage! When they've fixed, get them to replace the oil and filter and leave them your exhaust if you like to fit and they can run it up and test it before returning to you working:)Samantha x
