Hello check your engine oil level to see if it is over filled.
Also if it is smell it to see if there is gas in the oil.
what some times happens with older motorcycles the fuel petcock o-ring or diaphram goes bad and fuel will weap into the cylinders and into the crankcase. raising the level and pushing into the air box via the crankcase breather hose.
Also check the vacuum line from the petcock if it has gas in it the diaphragm is leaking.

1986 fzx 750cc revving to high when stopping in gear, neutral light stays on

You most likely have an air leak in the intake tract. Check and make sure your vacuum hose or hoses are attached also check for air leaking into the intake behind the carbs. When the bike is running, spray carb cleaner between the rubber boot and the engine. If engine changes rpm you found your leak.

Remove the tank and hold it upside down. You will probably have to shake it as well as there is a ridge around the filler hole. Once you have got as much out as you can, you can remove the rest by blowing compressed air into the tank to evaporate the remainder of the gas. Removing the fuel tap will also drain out much of the fuel, but there is always the problem of the fuel on the other side of the frame recess. If the fuel in the tank is very old, rinse the tanks several times with fresh fuel before you start the engine. You will probably have to strip and clean the carbs out and replace all the rubber parts and gaskets as well as fuel turns to gum if left standing too long.

Why are my plugs fowling out with a gas smell???

The bike is probably getting too much gas. Are the plugs wet with gas or covered with black soot? If so, that's why the plugs are fouling.

Well, first of all, is the rest of the bike in good shape? If this is the only problem, the easiest solution would be to replace the alternator, wouldn't be to much on that bike. I'm not positive if they are available, but I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to check. The coating your referring to I'm not familiar with, but did this happen over time, did he not use it for awhile?

Offhand, if the fuses checks good, then possibilities are loose or no ground on the front wiring harness. To confirm, temporarily wire an extra ground from the battery's - terminal to the headlight's ground wire.

Good luck and thank you for asking.

Not Charging

the best place to start is at the battery. with the battery fully charged and connected to the bike. get a voltmeter and in vdc place your meter leads on the battery terminals with the bike off. you should have 12.5-13.0 vdc. now start the bike with the meter leads on the battery terminals and the bike idling you should see around 13 vdc and when you increase the engine rpm you should see as high as 14.5 vdc if you see more then 15vdc you have a bad voltage regulator and if you see less then battery voltage from the first test, then it stands to reason that you have a bad stator. good luck and let me know what you find

I have a 2002 Yamaha SR125 and my original Speedometer has packed in. Everything works apart from the mileage. Does anyone know how to wind the Clock back?

This is a highly ill - eagle act to do. In the old days we would put an electric drill on the drive cable, but now they make them tamper proof so they only go one way. The bezels are crimped on so you can't get inside them. I expect modern one may be electronic. How will your insurance company know what mileage you have done? I have never known an insurance cancel or fine due to mileage. You should have just disconnected it when you got close to the limit. Buy a used one and use them for 6 months in turns. There are two or three here 23K and one with 36k https://www.google.com/search?q=2002+yamaha+sr125+speedometer ..
