Virago 535 lack of power!
Clean the jets out and try readusting them, if it has sit for a while gum can build up on the needle and seats so they need to be cleaned. also make sure you don't have a problem with fuel line fuel shut off valve make sure fuel is flowing to the carb and be sure air filter is clean. ake sure the carb is tight and the gasket does not have a hole in it or cracked. let me know if you need more help.
Many thanks wiz...battery good/used my zzr
did the bike stop when riding?
if you have no spark to both cylinders it will be the CDI box , pick up coils or wiring
If you can give me more details on how/when this problem happened i can help more
if you get a small voltage(1-2v)from you pick-up coil then this should be ok,CDI requires to test your supply to it ie:12v etc and your voltage from pick-up and obviously supply out.If you have these voltages coming in and nothing out then your unit is U/S but one thing to make sure of is that you kill switch wire is not earthed out at the unit.
Finding a replacement gas cap
You can purchase a new OEM gas cap at Babbit's. It is Yamaha part number 47G-24650-00-00. The cost is $132.75 and the key comes with it. :)
Go to the site below where you can see a parts diagram for your specific bike. You will select the actual brand, year, model, etc., once you go to the site. Part numbers and prices are also shown. You can order parts from this site. In the event no price is shown on a particular part, the part is not in stock. www.babbittsonline.com/pages/parts/viewbybrandand/parts.aspx
Google " motorcycle salvage yamaha " You can probably get a different gas tank with cap and key. I don't know if a salvage yard would sell only the cap w/ key.

The engine is firing on one cylinder and when the
Clean the carb on the bad cylinder. It may have a plugged pilot jet. The bike has CV carbs. There is a chance that the offending carb may have a pin hole in the diaphragm causing one slide to open later than the other slide. This could also be the problem. With the air cleaner removed, look at both carb slides and see if they crack open at the same instant or if one is definitely later than the other. That will confirm or eliminate the diaphragm.

Stalls to idle after riding for an hour.
It sounds like you probably need to replace the fuel filter, or you may have alot of trash in the bottom of your gas tank, possibly even water in the gas. If you can, take the tank off and clean it out well, making note if there is any trash in it, by emptying it into a bucket so you can examine it. Go ahead and replace the filter if you find any trash or water in the gas tank. If it is ok, then the next thing would be to check the fuel line for aging. Sometimes in rare cases, the hose gets old and weak and when you try to pull fuel through it, it can collapse and essential stop the gas flow, just as if you have turned the gas off, then when the suction is stopped the hose will open back up and appear to be in good shape. You can use your fingers and squeeze the line the entire length and see if it seems to feel excessively soft, if so that could also be causing your problem.
Flooding out front cyl with fuel....rebuilt carbs
Theres a problem to the front carburator thus the flooding, the float pin is not sealing of the fuel supply once the bowl is full. You will have to reset the float, remove the bowl and operate the float manually( by your fingers lifting it to seal) letting the fuel to flow, if it stops thn for sure the float needs adjusting, if it doesnt stop the flow thn the pin is not sealing, you may have to replace the float pin.
Hope this helps!.

Removing starter motor
hello.
those are the only fasteners that hold the starter into place. however. on the other side of the starter there is a sealing o-ring. after time this o-ring likes to hold the stater in its place. so with so very light prying the starter should slip out. hope this helps.
