My TZR 250cc gasoline tank
Depending on the location of the hole, you may be able to patch your tank with JB Weld or gas tank repair epoxy. Both are available at any auto parts store. JB weld can also be sanded so that the tank can be repainted; I'm not as certain that tank repair epoxy can be sanded without weakening it.
If you need a replacement tank, the easiest but most expensive source for a replacement tank would be to check with a Yamaha dealer. Yamaha may have a NOS tank in stock, but the dealer may also have a private boneyard. More likely, your best bet is to look for a motorcycle salvage yard. If a yard doesn't have the part, they can put out a search of other yards and get it that way. Your local yellow pages may have a listing for motorcycle salvage yards, but you can also run a Google search for "motorcycle salvage yards" and go the mail-order route. The first hit I clicked, www.bikeboneyard.com, had a variety of Yamaha gas tanks starting at $50, plus shipping. Of course, you can also check eBay, where I've had good success finding oddball motorcycle parts that many salvage yards don't keep in active inventory anymore.
Bike wont run for more than 5 secs and thats when it does start
Not sure but it sounds like it's running too rich a mixture and/or your float levels are not adjusted properly. When you stopped the excess fuel has gone into the bore not burned which will wet your spark plug making it very difficult to start. Depending on the colour of the smoke it could also indicate that your mixture is too rich. For extra power you need more air not necessarily more fuel. I hope that helps you. Again not sure but sounds like that is your problem. :)
How do i remove the
Hi, you are going to have to remove the engine, and split the cases, make sure you remove all the bolts holding the cases together any undue force may cause dammage, remove the gearbox carefully leaving the selectors in the cases, try not to remove more than you have to and note while dismantling the engine the position of any bearing positionining tags, incorrect refitting will damage the bearing, some bearings have locating tags and some have circlip rings to stop them moving under stress, ALWAYS REPLACE OIL SEALS to save further dismantling
Just bought it yesterday, my
When a bike sits the first thing to check is the pilot jet. It has the smallest hole and clogs the easiest. When it clogs you lose idle. Open the carb and look for a small hole next to the main jet, the pilot sits up inside. You need a narrow screwdriver to get up in there. Be sure you have a good fit so as not to strip the soft brass jet. I use a guitar string of the right diameter to clean out the hole. The varnish can be very hard, get it back to brass without removing metal is tricky. Squirt cleaner up into hole where the pilot goes with jet out. It should squirt through into carb air passage. Check float and float needle for cleanliness and smooth movment.Reassemble and try again. Good luck.
