2005 Suzuki SV 650 S Questions & Answers
I have a 05 suzuki
Im not sure if you are UK based, but remember the turn signals flash, their power supply will receive an on/off supply from the indicator relay.
You do have your ignition up front, so you could trace a switched feed from your ignition switch (i.e. 12volts is found when you switch on).
For the earth return, you can use any ground wire (even the indicator one) in the 'area'.
LEDs draw very little current, so it is unlikely you will overload any circuit.
Good luck!
How do I change the spark plugs?
You need a spark plug removal tool which halfords have or get one online from amazon or other site. Once you have the tool put it over the plug and screw it anti clockwise....it maybe hard held but a good constant pressure will remove it. Once out either clean the plug with a wire brush or replace with new and fitting is reverse of removal....quite simple really! remember there are 2 types of plug a thick one and a slim one be sure to note which type it is you need before purchase.
How to drain coolant
if you cant find a drain plug easiest way is to remove the lowest hose from one end on the radiator to let it drain
Afis problems
The injected SV will first of all check the temperature when first turned on . If it is cold enough then the bike will go to fast Idle which will be around the 2700 mark (not sure of this to be exact) and when reaching the next acceptable temperature it will drop down to 1800 and then finally down to its normal idle speed of around 1200 . I have found that the bike sometimes has a sticking link where the gold coloured bars that link the 2 throttle bodies get a bit sticky , spray some cleaner and a light lube on the pivot joints and free them up . When starting the bike in the cold , kneel down and peer into the triangular frame and see if the gold coloured plates move at all .
Bike not starting
Sounds l
ike a carb problem
remove air filter take starting fluid and spray in carb as you try to start it
keep spraying to keep it going
If it runs as long as you spray into carb
you will need to have the carb worked on
Suspension - winter storage
If your motorcycle has a center stand, use it for long term storage.
If you're not riding for several weeks and don't have a center stand, you may want to consider carefully propping up the bike using blocks. Don't do more harm than good by dropping your bike while attempting to prop it up! If done correctly, lifting your motorcycle will alleviate stress on the suspension and tires.
Inflate your tires to the maximum recommended pressure will maintain their shape, since cooling temperatures will make the pressurized air contract. If the ground might potentially freeze, try to keep the tires off the ground using wood blocks.
