Transmission Fluid Specs

Castrol Syntec motorcycle 10-40wt is what i woul recommend and you have a dipstick. So if you have drained the old fluid start by pouring in 1 qt. then check the dipstick w/ bike level on level ground. Then add a little oil at a time until full..If you have a sightglass instead of a dipstick then fill half to 3/4 up the sightglass. Buy 2qts while your at the store...good Luck to you friend...Tim

Rm 250 reving on its own, miss firing?

Hi there and welcome to fixya,

Check the throttle cable, there maybe dirt or sand trapped on the cable causing it to be pulled - as preset prior to actual throttling.

Check for the idling knob, check for the air fuel mixture as well. Standard is 2.5 turns out.

Check the jets. Open the carburetor and make sure moving mechanisms are moving normally. The jets should be clean as well.

Hope this helps,
let me know if it doesnt so I can follow it up

What type of oil should i use in my bike? i have a

Hi,
That 20w-50 is a premium lubricant already, upgrading to synthetic is much costly but much better.
It depends on how you frequently maintained your lubricant changes. If that grade of oil does not make any problem, better stay with it!
Hope that clears your mind!
Thanks for using Fixya!

How do i remove the water pump on a 1999 suzuki rm

hi,drop the oil, remove the right hand casing. undo the water pump casing. remove the impeller (10mm bolt) dont lose the copper/ally washer. draw the drive shaft from the inside of the casing. remove the bearing. remove the seals, keep note which way round the seals are. they should be opposite. one keeps oil in and the other keeps the water out of the oil. if there are any score marks on the drive shaft, replace it , as it will only leak again. to put it back together, just reverse process. hope this helps. kev.

Starts good cold with choke runs bogy until fully

You might be too rich on the pilot jet. (Too large)
Run it for a minute with the choke on, then shut the choke off, and let it run with just a little thrttle till it's warm. If it doesn't "clear" up, your jetting may be off. (The pilot does idle) Pull the plug to see what color it is. Black is too rich. (Too large of a jet)
