2003 Suzuki Intruder 1500: What should compression be?

Question moved from Television and Video category. I found this for VL800 manual states 185 to 242 psi nominal compression for either VL 800 engine. Add a dessert spoon of clean engine oil and do the compression test again. You also have to make sure the decompression system is working correctly. https://www.volusiariders.com/threads/what-should-be-the-compression.177602/ https://www.google.com/search?q=suzuki+intruder+1500+compression ....

1999 Suzuki intruder VL-1500. Nothing from starter when ignition hit. Fuses checked.

Question edited for clarity, full year make model. Question moved from Suzuki Cars. Does it has an anti-theft system? All the hallmarks of what happens when you disconnect the battery. It may be a faulty switch, as they do wear out. https://www.google.com/search?q=1999+Suzuki+intruder+VL-1500+reset+imobillizer ..

if it's the gasket i think you mean i always use 'Maniseal' (a white exhaust cement) with these seals/gaskets as they can be notoriously fickle to seal properly & try to torque the bolts/nuts to the correct settings too-imperative !

Cannot find the horn on my intruder 1500LC

Hey Kevin, generally horns are placed under the headlight or gas tank.. they are usually in an "open" area to allow the noise to radiate freely.. look around under the headlight,, near the front and bottom of the gas tank between the frame rails... as a last resort look at the back of the engine near one of the side covers....

1 have a 1999 Suzuki intruder 1500, It wont start after sitting all winter, it has a new battery. it turns over but seem to not have fire, what steps are involved in getting to the spark plugs?

Power and ground at the coil plug first. Key on. Could be the ignition module. Lots to check. Electrical diagrams are needed.

Drove perfectly, new replaced batteries. After a short tour, tried to switch it on, it was dead, no lights or reactions. Battery and fuses ok, ground ok. Switch terminals ok. Suggestions?

most likely it has a bad dynamo (alternator, or generator the thing that charges the battery?)

Fuel system schematic

Are any of the fuel lines kinked? Some fuel may be getting through but not enough to run properly. Is the tank "breathing"? Open the tank filler cap and try again to see if it runs properly. If it does, then as the fuel is being drawn from the tank a vacuum is caused because no air is venting into the tank. Check the vent (usually in the cap)

There should be an ignition in-line fuse under the tank. This is the fake tank under your gauges. The actual gas tank is below the seat. Let me know if you find it.

How to ajust idle

These carbs are really sensitive so the adjustment should be done by a mechanic who has the fuel pressure tools etc. It is a big job just getting to them. I would really recommend taking to the shop although it is expensive. You can check for videos on youtube to see if they have it available. I know this is not what you wanted to here but its the best advise I can give.

Drain plug location

Sorry I haven't been on here in awhile. The oil drain plug is underneath and at the back of the motor in the middle of the u shaped frame. Its a good sized plug so easy to spot once you look there.

Stalls then won't restart

The starter may be dragging when hot. This is caused by an internal starter problem, Bearings or likely brushes. This can be repaired. Don't just replace it. The stalling problem could be a fuel vapor lock. The fuel line gets hot and the fuel boils in the line. Rerouting the fuel line to a cooler place should help.

Replace clutch plate

Hi, takes a while to do but reasonably easy. Only downside is you need a few special tools to lock the clutch cage and remove the clutch. These tools are not cheap and most bike workshops won't lend them out readily. You can try though or see if anyone you know has the necessary tools. Good luck.
