How often should the oil be changed? what weight

Oil changes in a motorcycle should not be treated the same as cars because of length of time spent idle in garage etc.Oil that sits is not a good thing because of acidic conditions and other potential corrosion problems.( bad for engine) I change mine at every start of season or every 3000 miles which ever comes first.(after initial break in of course) Have been a bike owner for years and do all maintenence. A good heavy weight oil such as 20w50 is probably recommended but you may want to be sure as proper viscosity will effect the engine noise. Oil capacity varies between bikes but two qts for a v-twin should be enough. Look at the sight at the bottom of crank when you fill to be certain.

Battery

it (assuming it is a VS800) is in a trap door under the bike between the frame. disconnect the negative lug (left side) then the positive (right side) (this will be a small slotted screw viewable through a postage stamp sized window on the side of the battery cover) from underneath you remove the two front trap-door bolts and the cover will swing downward (be ready to support it as it swings) to add clearance have the back wheel up on a small thin board and one of equal size under the side stand for more info on suzuki intruders and boulevard series bikes check with www.intruderalert.com

Suzuki VS 800 Intruder won't start unless jumped.

Question edited for full make and model names. Question moved to model category. Could be a bad relay and they are easy enough to rest. The problem with bikes is corrosion. Involved in starting, is the battery, the battery connections, the starter button, the relay, and the starter solenoid and its connections. Break all the connections, clean with a wire brush until shiny, smother them with Vaseline and do them back up. Vaseline stops oxidization and also transmits electricity. Ideas in this link from owners regarding corrosion. https://www.google.com/search?q=Suzuki+VS+800+Intruder+won%27t+start+unless+jumped ..

I am getting no power to my VS800 ignition. Battery is hot, but nothing when the key is turned on. Is there a fuse box somewhere?

a battery should not be hot have it load tested have the charging circuit checked for correct voltage control hot batteries can be from over voltage in charging causing the battery to boil and buckle the plates or from internal short
